In a shocking and emotionally charged revelation, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez has finally broken her silence and admitted something that many had only whispered about for years: she was once the “other woman” in her now-husband Ogie Alcasid’s past relationship. The confession, raw and unfiltered, has sent ripples through both the entertainment industry and the hearts of longtime fans.

💔 A Painful Confession Decades in the Making

In a recent interview that has since gone viral, Regine shared a heartfelt moment of vulnerability as she looked back on the early stages of her love story with Ogie. At the time, Ogie was still legally married to singer-actress Michelle Van Eimeren, his former wife and the mother of his two children.

“Hindi ko puwedeng itanggi, kasi totoo naman,” Regine admitted.
“Masakit sa akin noon, pero mas masakit sa ibang tao. And now that I’m older, I can say… I was wrong.”

The singer’s voice trembled as she admitted the regret that still lingers years after the fact.

⚖️ A Love That Came at a Cost

While Regine and Ogie’s relationship eventually blossomed into a strong and lasting marriage, the start of their journey was anything but ideal. Ogie’s separation from Michelle was followed closely by public speculation about his growing closeness with Regine — rumors that they both once avoided addressing head-on.

Now, with this confession, Regine is choosing transparency, acknowledging the pain their early relationship caused and the difficult path they took to be together.

🗣️ “I Wanted to Believe Love Was Enough…”

During the interview, Regine expressed how torn she felt at the time — caught between love and conscience.

“I was in love… deeply. I wanted to believe that love was enough to justify everything. But now, I realize that some choices, even made in love, still hurt others.

Her candid honesty struck a nerve with fans and netizens alike, sparking a social media frenzy of both admiration and criticism.

💬 Mixed Reactions from the Public

As expected, reactions online were divided. Many commended Regine for her bravery in owning up to her past.

“It takes guts to admit that. She’s human like the rest of us,” one fan tweeted.
“Finally, she said what needed to be said. Healing starts with truth,” another commented.

However, others weren’t as forgiving.

“So now she admits it? What about the pain Michelle went through?” a netizen posted.
“It’s too late to say sorry when the damage has long been done,” another said.

❤️ Where They Stand Now

Today, Regine and Ogie have been happily married for over a decade, raising their son Nathan and continuing their powerhouse careers. Ogie has maintained a respectful co-parenting relationship with Michelle, who has since moved on and remarried.

But Regine’s public admission adds a new layer of humanity to a love story that was once shrouded in controversy. It’s a reminder that even the brightest stars carry the weight of past mistakes — and sometimes, it’s through owning those mistakes that true healing begins.

Regine Velasquez denies Ogie Alcasid divorce rumors
“We will not separate, ever, because we love each other.”
Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez could no longer hold back from hitting back at those spreading rumors that she and husband Ogie Alcasid have separated.

Tuesday, August 20, 2024, when the couple started talking on social media because of a Facebook page’s post about Regine’s alleged filing for “divorce”.

The singer-actress-host allegedly wanted her and her husband to have their marriage annulled, because he “betrayed” her.

The netizen’s post is clearly fake news because divorce has not yet been approved in the Philippines.

The post’s caption, “Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid’s Divorce Papers Processed After Betrayal!”

Something that Regine immediately denied.

This happened on the episode of It’s Showtime this Saturday, August 24, the day Ogie celebrated his 57th birthday with a production number. This is even though his actual birthday is still on August 27.

REGINE’S SWEET BIRTHDAY MESSAGES TO OGIE
After Ogie’s special production number, his co-hosts called his wife Regine and son Nate to the stage to give him a birthday message.

Nate gave his message first, followed by Regine.

According to Asia’s Songbird, she has no other wish but for her husband to be successful in all his projects as a producer.

Regine’s message to Ogie: “I just want the projects he’s doing with other people to be successful, because he’s a producer.

“My prayers are that he doesn’t get tired because he’s doing a lot. He is there every day, he still produces, then he continues to write songs, he continues to reinvent his song, he continues to reinvent himself.

“In this business, it’s hard to be relevant, and I think my husband can do that because he’s not afraid to reinvent himself.

“So honey, I’m very, very proud of you and I’m very proud of the work you do. Congratulations, mahal. I love you very much.” REGINE DENIES DIVORCE RUMORS
After her sweet message, Regine could no longer hold back from blowing out the false speculation about her and Ogie’s relationship.

She said she couldn’t understand why their relationship with her husband was now being targeted.

Regine admitted that sometimes she and Ogie had misunderstandings that they quickly resolved without getting divorced.

She said: “By the way, I just want to refute those who say we broke up. Wait for it, okay. Wait for it.

“Because you know, friends, marriage is difficult. Marriage is already difficult the way it is.

“But there are still people who are trying to make it more difficult for us, that’s not good. It’s like you’re praying for us to separate.

“We won’t separate, ever, because we love each other.”

Regine also strongly denied the speculation that Ogie cheated on her.

In defense of the Kapamilya singer, she believes that her husband could not do this because she knows him to be kind, respectful, and God-fearing. She also said that she can feel that he loves her very much along with their children—Nate, as well as Leila and Sarah, Ogie’s children with his ex-wife Michelle van Eimeren.

Regine said: “Our marriage is not perfect, but for me, it really is. It’s not perfect, of course there are issues but I want to say that my husband is very kind.

“You know how I know he is kind, because he is God-centered. His focus is on God even though he does a lot.

“Hence, I am the one who benefits from that because he loves the Lord very much, he is a kind and good husband [to me] and father to our children.

So please if you see any writeups [about our separation], don’t believe them.”

Regine also asked, don’t immediately believe what you see and read online. It’s better to first investigate if the information you get is true.

She said, “You see us on our social media, we are very close, he’s my best friend.”

Ogie and Regine got married at the Peak, Terrazas De Punta Fuego, in Nasugbu, Batangas, on December 22, 2010.

OGIE: “Let’s report this.”

Meanwhile, even before Regine’s speech on It’s Showtime, Ogie had previously denied the rumors circulating about their relationship.

On Threads on August 21, the singer-songwriter posted a statement on what he said were defamatory allegations against him and Regine.

Ogie said he regrets these posts, especially those about his marriage with his wife Regine.

They say it is sacred to them, but they are trying to make up stories that are not true.

Ogie’s full post, “This post was sent to me. It is so sad that the owner would spread rumors about our marriage that is so sacred to both me and my wife and fabricate stories about our supposed separation. Let’s report this.”
