Former actor Red Sternberg passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the age of 50. Red Sternberg rose to fame in the 1990s as one of the main cast members of the popular show TGIS. His wife, Sandy, confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media, posting about it today, May 30, which would have been Red Sternberg’s birthday.
“It is hard to find the words right now to say that this has been the most difficult time I have gone through in my whole life. To be grieving, saying happy birthday, and sorrowing at the same time. Three consecutive days that were supposed to be full of celebration—May 28, 29, and 30. But my husband suddenly passed away the morning of May 27. To those who knew him from his TGIS days, he would have turned 51. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. I kindly request privacy at this time as we navigate this difficult journey. Memorial arrangements will be shared soon,” Sandy wrote.
The news was also confirmed by director Mark Reyes, who directed TGIS:
“The entire TGIS family is heartbroken over the loss of one of our own. We just confirmed with Red’s wife, Sandy Sternberg, that he passed away a few days ago. Their family requests privacy at this time, and we appreciate your kind understanding as they go through this sudden loss. Kiko, we love you and we’re giving you a group hug right now.”
Rica Peralejo, a former co-star from TGIS, also expressed her shock and deep sorrow over Red’s passing. Michael John Flores, another former co-star, shared similar sentiments.
The cause of Red Sternberg’s sudden passing has not been officially disclosed. However, circulating reports suggest that he may have died of a heart attack or cardiac arrest, although this has yet to be confirmed.
