It’s extremely sad and heart-wrenching because, as she said, she’s only fighting for her children. If it weren’t for them, she would have given up a long time ago. Due to her illness, what she’s going through is no joke. The only thing bringing her joy now are her children—especially Josh, who she’s keeping a close eye on.

. Kris Aquino herself shared these photos on her social media account and said, “This was ready to be posted yesterday, but I accidentally fell asleep.”

She also said, “I asked my team of doctors to please complete my surgical procedures before August 21. We started on August 28, at 8:15 p.m. That was the time check I remember before Daddy Doc, my honestologist, and my cousin-in-law, Dr. Nick, an interventional cardiologist, started their work. I remember being transferred to another cardiac OR for my port-a-cath and I was back in my room before midnight. While I’m writing this, happy tears are flowing because I’m remembering how much our mom endured for us. She also had to afford a catheter surgically implanted, yet we never heard her complain, and she didn’t have a pain management doctor. I have an entire team of doctors, and my vascular surgeon Dr. Lukban did a great job. And Dr. Cash, his senior resident fellow, while waking up from my anesthesia, I said, ‘Where’s the certified doctor?’ And can I now please have my dame? Coincidentally, my brother Noy and I had the same favorite chocolate.”

You saw many glimpses of Kuya Josh and Beam. Last week, he was wearing protective gear to go into the recovery area. “My sons are the reason I continue to endure. If I weren’t their mama, I would have given up a long time ago. It’s very difficult to be as brave as my dad and mom because I know this is just the beginning of more aggressive treatment to keep me alive and get me to a point of remission. My doctors have six months, while I’m in isolation, to figure out the best treatment plan for someone with as many allergies to medicine, food, and the environment as I have. For me, it’s rehabilitation, physical therapy, and rekindling my love for cooking. I’m not allowed to be near flames for more than a few minutes because it triggers my lupus, polymyositis, rheumatoid arthritis, and progressive systemic sclerosis flares. I continue with assisted tutorials and activities because one is never too old to stimulate the brain. I have a new hashtag to remind myself how much I owe all of you who continue praying for me. The love of Bimbi and Josh for their mama is overwhelming. This is what they did: they surprised Mama Kris with beautiful balloons that read “I love Mama, keep fighting Mama” along with many other heartfelt messages for Kris Aquino from her children.

Mr. Boy Abunda, her best friend and former colleague from her peak days, also visited. They never forget Kris, and these are people truly close to her. One of Kris Aquino’s friends, Gary Valenciano, also sent a heartfelt message for her:

“Hello Kris, not sure if you’ll get to read this, but you are in my prayers, my friend. I’ve never been able to tell you this, but you once gave me an interview back in 2000 and 2001. It was there that you said certain things that boosted my hope and energy. I’m affected by what I’ve had to see you go through, but I’m truly blessed to see how strong and brave you really are. I’m moved at how your sons have stood by you and how much you’ve loved them in return. You’ve done an excellent job raising them. In my darkest moments, when I face the toughest challenges, I remind myself that I’m always in the hands of Jesus, the safest place anyone can find. I pray that these are the same hands that continue to cradle you close to the heart of the Almighty. God bless you, Kris.
