Marco and Isabelle’s wedding day was like a fairytale.
There were white flowers in every corner of the church, the violin was playing, and there were tears of joy in everyone’s eyes.
Everyone… except for one person.

Doña Remedios, Marco’s mother, was quiet but clearly uncomfortable.

And she was even more annoyed when she saw two “beggars” who suddenly appeared in the church.

An old man with a cane and a woman with a headscarf. Barefoot. Dirty clothes. Carrying a sack.

They sat quietly in the last pew, but that didn’t escape the eyes of the groom’s mother.

“Security, get them out. It’s embarrassing,” she whispered to the wedding coordinator.

But before they could be chased away, Marco suddenly turned from the altar.

He was startled.

“Father… Mother?” she said, almost in disbelief. Marco and Isabelle’s wedding day was like a fairytale.

He was startled.

“Father… Mother?” he said, almost incredulously, “I want to graduate… become an engineer. For my mother in the province. But my aunt left me. I have nowhere to live.”

Since then, they have let Marco live under an old bridge where they spend the night.
It’s not comfortable, but there is a roof, there are people, there is someone who cares.
On cold nights, they have become his home.

Fast forward to the present.

Marco graduated. Found a job. Succeeded.
And all this is happening because of two people who treated him like their children — even though they are not really related.

But he never forgot to thank them.
And on his wedding day, he took them with him — not as beggars — but as second parents.

“The truth is, they are the reason why I am here today,” he said in the middle of the wedding.
“They are the ones who fed me, encouraged me, and supported me when everyone else was far away.”

The church was silent. Doña Remedios couldn’t look.
“B-but why are they begging now?” one asked.

But here everyone was even more shocked.

“They didn’t want to accept my help before. They said they wanted to see who was really in me — and who only comes when they have money.”

“They wore old clothes and a bag… just to make sure they wouldn’t be embarrassed.”

The bride burst into tears. Marco burst into tears.
And even Doña Remedios, quietly approached and bowed before them.

After the wedding, everything changed.

Marco put Mang Lando and Aling Rosa in a nice home.

Aling Rosa was treated at the clinic.
And at every family celebration, they were always at the forefront — always given honor.

At the end of the story, it didn’t matter who was rich or poor, who had a title or not.
The true treasure is a heart that knows how to love, even if you are not related by blood.

END.
