According to Director Darryl Yap’s legal advisor, Atty. Raymond Fortun, his client, Director Darryl, sent Vic Sotto, host of “Eat Bulaga,” a copy of the script for the movie “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma” before the teaser was made and released on social media platforms.

In an interview with Atty. Fortun of GMA Integrated News, he said he did not receive any response from Vic Sotto regarding the script sent to him. The lawyer explained that the purpose of sending a copy of the script to Vic was for him to give comments or suggestions before continuing with the production of teasers and other promotional materials.

According to Atty. Fortun, Director Darryl had followed up with Vic several times to get possible reactions and comments on the script, but did not receive any response from the host. So when all the scenes for the movie were finished, they considered Vic’s non-response no longer their fault.

“No, Director Darryl followed up several times about it until finally all the scenes were shot. So, it’s not our fault anymore,” added Atty. Fortun.

The lawyer also emphasized that there has been no decision from the court ordering the stoppage of the distribution of teasers or videos about the controversial film, a biopic of a sexy star from the 80s. He said there has been no official step from the court to stop the promotion of the film, so they continue to release the teasers on social media.

It can be recalled that on January 9, Vic Sotto filed a case against Director Darryl Yap. He filed a case of 19 counts of cyber libel at the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court, at the prosecutor’s office. In Vic’s petition, among the actions he is requesting is the stoppage of the distribution of personal and sensitive information allegedly released about him in the film’s teasers. Vic’s petition also includes a request to remove such materials from online platforms, such as social media posts and videos, which he said contained inappropriate details about his life.

The case filed by Vic against Director Darryl stemmed from the controversy surrounding the film, which Vic said contained false information and untruths that caused damage to his reputation. According to Vic, the film’s teasers contained incorrect details that caused him embarrassment and violated his privacy.

Meanwhile, the film “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma” is a project by Director Darryl Yap that deals with a sensitive issue regarding an incident that occurred in the 80s. Although the director and his legal team insist that they are not violating any laws in the making of films, a disagreement between him and Vic Sotto led to the filing of the case against the director.

These steps highlight the ongoing tensions between personalities in the film and television industry, especially when it comes to privacy and reputation issues. The public and experts are now focused on the next steps that the court and the parties involved in this issue will take.
