On My Day Off, I Discovered My Husband’s Terrifying Secret — A Stack of Documents That Took My Breath Away

It was a Sunday off, and I took the opportunity to clean the house, throwing away unused and old items. But while tidying up, I was stunned to discover a horrifying secret about my husband—a stack of documents that left me breathless.

While going through his things, I came across various papers that completely exposed his true face.

I’ve been married for nine years, and up until now, I had always felt happy and fulfilled with the man I respected and loved. Although we’re not wealthy, we live comfortably, with savings for our children’s future. The greatest satisfaction in our marriage has been our children—healthy and well-behaved.

Among the papers was a contract for purchasing an apartment and several bills related to it. My husband had never once mentioned any of this to me. What shocked me most was that the apartment contract was under the name of another woman. And the payment receipts? They were all signed by my husband, as if he had been paying for her.

Digging deeper, I found a handwritten note that said:
“Thank you for this valuable gift. Once we have our apartment, we’ll be able to see each other more often. I look forward to the day I can be your wife.”

I took the woman’s phone number from the contract and looked her up on social media—and that’s when I uncovered the terrifying truth. She was young, pretty, fashionable, and regularly posted photos of herself with my husband. It was like they were a married couple. I was devastated when I realized my husband was having an affair—and worse, he was trying to buy her an apartment.

That night, I confronted him and demanded an explanation. At first, he denied everything. But eventually, he confessed. He didn’t apologize, didn’t talk about ending the affair. Instead, he coldly said:
“Now that you know, do whatever you want. I’m not afraid to admit it. If you want a divorce, I’ll sign the papers.”

I was crushed. I cried uncontrollably, feeling utterly betrayed and disappointed. For over a year, even though my husband’s business had been doing well, he started giving me less and less money, always with some excuse. Now I realize he was saving every penny to support his mistress—even buying her a home. I blame myself for being so blind. I didn’t notice his changes.

My husband has always been a reserved person. He rarely went out or drank. His work kept him busy, but whenever he had free time, he’d help me with house chores. We used to communicate openly to avoid misunderstandings or unnecessary arguments. Since we got married, he had never once raised his voice at me or our kids. He was quiet—but warm and kind.

I thought our marriage was perfect. But just when I felt the happiest, everything fell apart.

Last weekend, while organizing the house, I found his document bag. I opened it to check for any old or unnecessary papers to throw out. And that’s when I stumbled upon all of this—documents I had never seen before.

Our children are still very young, so I’ve kept this to myself. I haven’t made any decisions yet because I’m afraid of how it would affect them. I’m in deep pain, and torn between whether I should try to save this marriage—or end it with divorce.

Please give me some advice. What should I do?
