A new chapter unfolds in the viral saga of social media personality “Imburnal Girl,” as DSWD Undersecretary Erwin Tulfo has confirmed that an official review is underway following online concerns about her recent behavior and allegations that she accepted ₱80,000 from an unnamed individual.
📲 FROM VIRAL SENSATION TO NATIONAL HEADLINE
“Imburnal Girl” first gained attention for her emotional and unpredictable livestreams, which drew millions of views and a wave of public reactions. But now, questions have surfaced about whether her actions were purely spontaneous — or if they were influenced by external pressure or compensation.
🧾 THE ₱80K QUESTION: SPONSORSHIP OR SOMETHING ELSE?
Multiple social media users have claimed that she may have received ₱80,000 from a third party — allegedly in exchange for promoting certain products or behaving in a way that would generate viral attention.
Though these claims remain unverified, the matter has caught the attention of Erwin Tulfo, who stated:
“We have a responsibility to ensure that no individual is being taken advantage of online, especially those who may not be fully aware of the impact of their actions.”
🕵️ INVESTIGATION TO FOCUS ON WELFARE AND ETHICS
Tulfo emphasized that this is not about punishing anyone, but about ensuring the safety and welfare of people who unexpectedly rise to online fame.
Authorities will look into:
Whether there was any undue influence or manipulation
If financial offers were made under unclear terms
And if appropriate support systems are being made available to her
“Fame should not come at the cost of a person’s dignity or well-being,” Tulfo said.
🧠 A CONVERSATION ON RESPONSIBILITY
Observers online have noted that the case of “Imburnal Girl” shines a light on the thin line between entertainment and exploitation. Some viewers have expressed concern that she may have been encouraged to act in exaggerated ways for clicks and attention — without fully understanding the consequences.
Tulfo also hinted that other individuals connected to the situation may be asked to clarify their role, if any.
📣 PUBLIC REACTIONS: SUPPORT AND QUESTIONS
The story has sparked a wave of mixed emotions online. While some are defending her right to express herself, others are urging greater awareness around digital responsibility and influencer conduct.
“She deserves protection, not pressure,” one netizen wrote.
“Let’s make sure people are not being pushed to extremes just to go viral.”
🚨 WHAT COMES NEXT?
The Department of Social Welfare and Development is expected to release an update in the coming days. Meanwhile, Erwin Tulfo assured the public that any findings will be handled with fairness and confidentiality, keeping the person’s dignity at the forefront.
Erwin Tulfo on Sewer Girl case: If it were me, I would have it investigated
IF Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo is to be followed, he said the case of the viral “Sewer Girl” should have been thoroughly investigated.
This is related to the controversial issue regarding the government’s continued distribution of aid to poor Filipinos.
Sen. Erwin gave his thoughts on the woman who came out of the sewer in Makati last month who was given financial assistance by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Netizens questioned and opposed the DSWD’s giving of P80,000 to the so-called Sewer Girl and the plan to make her the agency’s ambassador.
He said this is unfair because there are many more deserving Filipinos that the DSWD should help, especially since Sewer Girl also admitted that she uses illegal drugs.
“If you ask me, I should have been interviewed. It’s not the job of the Secretary (Rex Gatchalian) to interview people. I hope he investigated. If it was me, I would have him investigated,” Sen. Erwin said in a media interview.
He added, “So, what’s wrong there too…are those below; those around the Secretary. Because it’s not the job of the secretary to investigate.”
“That’s just it, as long as there are Filipinos who can’t stand on their own feet, they need help.
“If you remove that, where else will the indigent go for burial, hospitalization?” the former broadcast journalist said strongly.
Earlier, the DSWD also defended the public sentiment regarding the provision of aid to Imburnal Girl and the issue of her drug use.
The agency said it knows about her bias and that they do not discriminate against individuals living on the streets that they help.
Meanwhile, Sen. Tulfo admitted that the aid is indeed being abused and used, especially during the 2025 midterm elections, but he believes that voters are now wiser.
“Many lost. They gave aid but lost because they did not have concrete projects for their district, for their town, for their province,” the senator said.
