Recently, former Miss Philippines Acquene Arradaza was kidnapped and brutally murdered, shocking public opinion.
It is known that Acquene Arradaza (born 1990) was crowned at a local contest in the Philippines – Miss Matag-ob – in 2012. She then quickly became a prominent face at local cultural and entertainment events as well as participating in many fashion shows
However, she later gave up her famous career and made a living as a personal caretaker. The 35-year-old beauty is a single mother of 3 children. Close friends have commented that although life is not easy, she has always been a devoted mother and attentive to her career.
Notably, the victim’s younger brother, Eros Arradaza, 30, was killed in a shootout with police while being pursued for drug-related crimes in the same province last year.
The beauty queen’s mother, Vilma Arradaza, is now calling for justice and hoping Philippine politicians will help investigate the case.
According to initial investigation, Arradaza was kidnapped by three armed men while shopping in Ormoc City, Philippines on July 31.
Security cameras captured the moment Arradaza was kidnapped from a store in Valencia, Ormoc City. A black Toyota Wigo with license plate 1799 stopped at the curb, three men jumped out, forced her into the car and quickly fled towards Kananga, Leyte. The car was later seen heading towards Tacloban.
Her disappearance was only reported by relatives on August 4 – the same day a group of fishermen discovered her body drifting off the coast of the coastal village of Barangay 99 Diit, Tacloban City.
The victim’s body was found naked, gagged, blindfolded, with her hands and feet bound and a bicycle lock around her neck. Her face was covered with black cloth and wrapped in duct tape. Police said her body was also tied to two sacks of rocks in an attempt to sink to the bottom of the sea.
The victim’s sister, Patricia Arradaza, revealed that Acquene had been in contact with a man named Pay-ap Drilon on the morning of the kidnapping. Police are currently searching for the suspects and investigating the motive, saying it was a targeted attack
