Regine Velasquez Speaks Out: I’m Not Outdated, I’m Not Outdated — Is Chloe San Jose Still Up for a Hit?

Amidst heated social media chatter, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez has once again proven that even after decades in the industry, she is still unshakeable. Regine’s statement has become the talk of the town regarding the issues that are spreading—not just about newbie singer Chloe San Jose, but also those who have labeled her as “outdated” and “outdated.”

“I’m Still Here, And I’m Not Going Anywhere”

In an interview, Regine bluntly said:

“I don’t need to explain myself to people who don’t really know me. I’m still here, singing, working. I’m not outdated.”

Her voice is filled with emotion—not anger, but self-confidence and respect for the name she worked so hard for.

Issue With Chloe San Jose

Although Chloe San Jose was not directly named, there were lines that seemed to hint at her feelings on the issue. Several fans noticed “tension” between them after a show where they both performed. Some said that Chloe “showed off” and seemed disrespectful to her “idol.”

But Regine responded:

“I don’t like negativity. If there are new artists coming up, I’m happy for them. But hopefully, they will learn to be respectful. We all go through the process of being a beginner. All we need is respect.”

Hindi Basta-Basta Matitinagar

Regine Velasquez is undeniably one of the most respected names in the music industry. From her iconic high notes to her contribution to OPM, Songbird has nothing more to prove.

“If I’m already old, why are you still here? Why are you still talking about me?”

A subtle but sharp jab—a response that seemed to clash with critics.

Fans Support

Following the interview, fans poured in support for Regine on social media. The hashtag #RespectRegineVelasquez trended, with netizens saying:

“You don’t have to prove yourself, Songbird. You are the queen of OPM.”

“Chloe San Jose, take notes. Regine built this industry with her voice.”

Continuing on the Wave of Music

Despite the intrigues, Regine is still continuing with her projects and concerts. In the last words of her interview, she gave a simple reminder:

“Music, never stops. As long as I have a voice, as long as there are people listening—I will continue.”

And because of that, one thing is clear: Regine Velasquez is far from done.

Some say I’m old, but I’m still here – Regine
Regine Velasquez is FUNNY because her character’s name in Mulawin vs Ravena, Sandawa, is being played with. She calls her character Sandawa Park (from Sandara Park), which made reporters laugh when she spoke to him at the fantaserye’s press conference.

Sandawa is the goddess of nature and the guardian of the balasik. She is the mother of Dakila, Lumad, and Magindara. Sandawa will do everything so that her youngest Magindara doesn’t end up like her siblings who lost their immortality because of dealing with mortals.

“When the Sandawa role was written, they really had me in mind. Ms. Lilybeth (Rasonable, VP for Entertainment TV of GMA-7) said, I hope I’ll accept because if I don’t accept the role, they’ll just remove Sandawa’s character from the story. Sandawa will have a singing part,” Regine said. So expect Sandawa to sing in Mulawin vs. Ravena which will air on Mondays after 24 Oras, directed by Dominic Zapata and Don Michael Perez.

In the said interview with Regine, she recounted the bashing she was sometimes subjected to.

“It’s impossible to avoid being criticized especially when the target is Leila (daughter of Ogie Alcasid and Michelle van Eimeren who now lives with Ogie) and Nate (Ogie’s son).

“When it’s children who are being bashed, that’s when I react. ‘If I’m the one being bashed, it’s okay. They’ll say I’m old and because it’s true, I’m not affected. Some even say I’m old, but I’m still here doing what I love most,” Regine continued.
