Several netizens were no longer surprised by the defeat or failure of both Dennis Padilla and Marjorie Barretto in their respective bids for public office in Caloocan City. Yes, both Dennis and Marjorie lost their campaigns for councilor positions in Caloocan. This came in the wake of the recent scandal involving the two.
This followed Dennis Padilla’s emotional reaction and public airing of grievances over the wedding of his daughter, Claudia. It will be recalled that Dennis expressed disappointment after expecting to walk his daughter down the aisle at her church wedding to her longtime boyfriend—but was not given any role in the ceremony. Dennis reportedly waited for his moment, but the wedding ended without him participating, which deeply hurt him. He later vented his feelings on social media, which drew much attention online.
Not long after, Marjorie Barretto gave an interview. For a long time, Marjorie had remained silent despite Dennis Padilla’s frequent online rants. However, perhaps due to her own campaign for councilor in Caloocan, she decided it was time to speak out. In the interview, Marjorie clarified that she personally instructed Claudia to invite her father to the wedding.
However, Claudia also made it clear that although she extended the invitation, Dennis would not be walking her down the aisle. In fact, neither parent would walk with her, as there were other matters to be taken care of. As a result, it was Marjorie who ended up having some role during Claudia’s walk to the altar. This decision reportedly hurt Dennis Padilla deeply, prompting further public expressions of pain and disappointment.
Marjorie also opened up about her past experiences as Dennis’s wife, revealing previously unknown details—including the fact that she has a hearing issue in one ear, allegedly due to an incident of physical abuse back when Julia was still a baby.
Many netizens commented that Claudia should have let her father walk her down the aisle, saying that doing so might have improved the situation between Dennis and Marjorie, or at least brought some peace. Others added that the scandal significantly affected the public’s perception of both Dennis and Marjorie as potential leaders. They questioned how the two could be trusted to serve the public when they couldn’t even resolve matters within their own family.
