Celebrity makeup artist and hairstylist James Cooper passes away
Cooper’s celebrity clients include Maricel Soriano and the late Farrah Fawcett.
International make-up artist and hairstylist James Cooper passed away in San Pablo, Laguna, Sunday night, May 29, 2022.
He was 73 years old.
According to information gathered by the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph), Cooper lost consciousness while at the San Pablo Cathedral for a Santacruzan.
He was rushed to the Community General Hospital at around 6:20 p.m. but the famous make-up artist passed away.
Farrah Fawcett, Victoria Principal, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Barbara Carrera are some of the popular Hollywood personalities James worked with when he was still living in America.
James was deeply affected when Fawcett passed away on June 25, 2009 because he worked with the famous American actress for three years.
In a previous interview with James, he shared that he helped create Fawcett’s makeup and hairdo in the iconic poster of the hit television series Charlie’s Angels. James was the first Filipino to be featured in French Vogue and was also the first to introduce airbrush makeup to the Philippines.
When he decided to return to the Philippines in the mid-1980s, he was responsible for Maricel Soriano’s makeover.James Cooper with Maricel Soriano

Former ABS-CBN reporter and incumbent Laguna 3rd District House Representative Sol Aragones was among those shocked by Cooper’s passing because they were still together on Saturday night, May 28.
Aragones’ message: “It’s hard to say goodbye to a close friend who has been a part of my life for almost two decades.
“You have always been there in the ups and downs of my life. It’s hard to accept that last night we were still together and planning for our dreams.
“It’s hard to wake up every morning without you, Uncle James Cooper. But we know that you will take away the sadness we feel.
“I know that you would rather us continue your rich ideas when it comes to art. Farewell, our friend. We will never forget you. “Magpakaylanman.”
According to James’ niece Agnes Agsalud-Cordero, who was on her way to San Pablo City when PEP.ph spoke to her tonight, she could not provide any details about the funeral that will be held for her uncle’s remains.
James Cooper’s death comes weeks after the passing of another famous makeup artist, Fanny Serrano. Fanny passed away on May 10
