One afternoon, while I was watering the plants on the balcony, I suddenly saw my husband coming up from the floor below. He was leaving a strange apartment, moving with the ease of someone arriving home. I was surprised, but I thought maybe he was visiting a friend or a business partner.

A few days later, at the same time, I saw him again coming out of there. This time he was carrying a bag of food, his face glowing with tenderness and joy… expressions he hadn’t shown with me for a very long time. A painful suspicion began to grow inside me.

I decided to investigate. The building guard hesitated at first, but finally confessed:
— “Mr. Rodrigo often visits 904… a young woman has been renting there for years.”

I felt my soul freeze. 904 was right below my apartment. My heart pounded so hard it felt like it would burst out of my chest. That night, I sat in front of Rodrigo. He knelt down, took my hands, and begged:
