Not wanting to take care of his old mother, the son pretended to be sick to kick her out of the house. Unexpectedly, 3 months later he discovered he really had cancer. His old mother returned coldly and gave him a shocking statement.
The son was stingy and did not want to take care of his old mother. Seeing her hunched back, shaking hands, and having to rely on others to eat and drink, he felt uncomfortable. One day, he made up a scenario, pretending to be seriously ill, acting as if he also needed someone to take care of him, and coldly kicked his mother out of the house:
– “I can’t take care of both of us, you should go back to the countryside, it’s too much trouble here!”
The mother choked up, hugged her small bag, and silently left the house that she had built with her own hands, brick by brick.
Three months later, retribution came. The son felt his health decline, went to the doctor and was shocked: he really had cancer . All the confusion and fear made him remember his mother, so he quickly sent someone to take her back.
But when the old woman returned, it was not the warm embrace he expected. She took a piece of paper from her pocket and coldly placed it on the table:
“Declaration of disownment. From now on, I no longer have this unfilial son.”
He was stunned, his hands shaking as he held the paper, cold sweat running down his back. The house suddenly became dark and stuffy. For the first time, he understood what it meant to lose his mother – really lose her.
It was like a thunderclap. He panicked, tossing and turning every night thinking about his mother. In desperation, he asked someone to find and bring his mother back:
– “Mom, I was wrong… come back and take care of me… only you can take care of me…”
The whole family anxiously awaited the moment she returned. Everyone thought she would cry and hug her son like any other good mother.
But when the old woman returned, she looked completely different. Her back was still bent, her hands were still shaking, but her eyes were cold as ice. She didn’t say much, just pulled a piece of paper from her shirt and placed it straight on the table.
The son opened it tremblingly and saw four large words in bright red ink:
“DECLARATION FROM ME.”
Without a single tear, the old woman only said one sentence:
“ There was a time when I begged to be with you, but you chose to push me away. Today, I also choose to abandon you.”
The whole house fell into a deadly silence. The son sat down on the chair, his hands shaking as he held the paper, sweat pouring out like a shower. Outside, the neighbors whispered:
“Life is all about repaying what you owe, there is no injustice at all!”
For the first time, he deeply felt what it was like to lose a mother – not because of death, but because of the complete loss of maternal love, the loss of the last support in life.
