Early this Wednesday morning, July 27, almost all Luzon residents felt the tremors of the earth, caused by an earthquake of almost magnitude 7 in the province of Abra and the Ilocos region that knocked down several establishments, cracked the ground, and destroyed several heritage sites especially in Vigan, Ilocos Norte.

The damage caused by the very strong shaking of the earth, after several decades, is clearly visible in the photos shared by netizens living or visiting the aforementioned areas.

While most people took the incident seriously, some netizens made a joke of the situation. One of its ‘victims’ was newlywed Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and Coach Julius Naranjo. The two weightlifters got married yesterday, July 26, in Baguio City.

Netizens said that the earthquake may have been caused by the couple’s honeymoon, especially since they were in the North. Some Facebook pages even seemed to “blame” the couple because they said that the entire Luzon felt their honeymoon.

Aside from the couple, a video clip that was taken of Queen of All Media Kris Aquino when an earthquake struck while she was in the middle of an interview, in April 2019, is also circulating on Twitter.

In the said video clip, Kris mentions her taxes that she pays when she was suddenly stopped due to the tremors she felt.

“Yes there was an earthquake… and the electricity was gone, let’s go home,” Kris said coolly and smiling.

“I want to go home (holding her chest together). My sons… because we are on the fault line. Hey, check it out, call home,” she ordered her staff.

“Yes, it’s strong, and we’re in Green Meadows, check! My God, my house… check Bimb and Kuya (Joshua)…”

Later, Kris said she felt vertigo. They even felt some aftershocks.

A few seconds later, Kris joked.

“It’s the end of the world… I’m telling you… it’s good that I bought all the Chanel I wanted… (people laughed), at least I got to experience her. Damn, the tax I paid was so high…” Many netizens miss Kris now, especially her poise and smile when she wasn’t sick anymore.
