‘Bossing’ says Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto is next PH president
MANILA, Philippines — Reelectionist Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was introduced by his father, veteran actor Vic “Bossing” Sotto, as the next president of the country. The elder Sotto made the pronouncement during a proclamation rally on Friday or during the start of the campaign season for the 2025 local elections.

Vic first joked that his son took after his mother before proclaiming that he is the next President of the Philippines.“You all know who he took after, of course, his mother. This is the next president of the Philippines, Mayor Vico Sotto,” Vic said as he introduced his son during the proclamation rally.

The proud father also congratulated residents of Pasig for electing someone like Vico and his fellow city officials, who he says made it possible to eradicate government corruption in the city.

“You are the ones I congratulate, because you are the ones who are enthroning the brave people before us now,” he said.

The elder Sotto made the pronouncement during a proclamation rally on Friday or during the start of the campaign season for the 2025 local elections.

“Bossing Takes the Streets! Vic Sotto Joins Son Vico’s Campaign—Hints at a Future President?”

In a scene that drew cheers, gasps, and instant online buzz, veteran actor and television icon Vic “Bossing” Sotto made a surprise public appearance in Barangay San Miguel, Pasig City—not for a film shoot or comedy skit, but to campaign alongside his son, incumbent mayor Vico Sotto, who is seeking a third and final term in the 2025 local elections.

With cameras flashing and supporters erupting in applause, Vic Sotto took the microphone and delivered a message that quickly went viral:

“This young man is not just your mayor—he could be the next president of the Philippines.”

The crowd roared.

The moment wasn’t just symbolic; it was strategic. As political tensions rise in Pasig—where Vico faces tough opponents and politically charged attacks—his father’s presence sent a clear message: the Sottos are united, and they’re in it to win it.

A Father’s Endorsement, A Nation’s Curiosity

Known for his decades-long reign as a comedic kingpin on Philippine TV, Vic Sotto has mostly stayed away from politics. But this rare and heartfelt appearance shows just how much he believes in his son’s mission.

“This isn’t just about family,” Vic added during the rally. “It’s about protecting honest governance and standing up for what’s right in a system that often punishes integrity.”

Vico Sotto, widely praised for his transparency, youth-driven leadership, and anti-corruption stance, has become a standout among city mayors. Since his historic win in 2019—toppling the long-time Eusebio dynasty—he has attracted national attention for implementing data-driven policies and citizen-first reforms.

Yet, with popularity comes pressure.

Political Firestorms Ahead

Despite his achievements, Vico is not without enemies. Recently, politically motivated graft charges have been filed against him—charges that many observers call “desperate tactics” by his rivals to derail his growing influence.

“These accusations are nothing new,” Vico said in a separate interview. “It’s the price of doing what’s right in a system where corruption is protected, not punished. But we will not be intimidated.

As the 2025 elections near, Vico faces two main challengers: former city administrator Sarah Discaya, and an independent candidate backed by traditional political families. But analysts agree: with Vic Sotto’s powerful backing and Vico’s enduring grassroots support, he remains the man to beat.

A Future President in the Making?

Vic’s comment about a presidential future may have been offhand—but it struck a nerve.

Social media lit up with posts like,

“Mayor Vico for President 2030?”
“If Vico runs, he has my vote. Period.”
“Vic Sotto knows a superstar when he sees one—and he raised one!”

While Vico himself has downplayed any national ambitions—”My focus is Pasig,” he often says—the idea is planted. And with his father now stepping into the political spotlight, even for a moment, that idea is no longer far-fetched.

As the campaign trail heats up, one thing is clear: the Sotto name isn’t just for entertainment anymore—it’s becoming a political force to reckon with.
