In an interview with Aster Amoyo, Gary V recalled his emotional experience amidst his series of health problems.

His severe trial began when he felt something wrong with his body. The simple fatigue from a two-minute performance seemed as heavy as an entire solo concert.

Because of his feelings, he consulted his doctor. This is where he learned that he had a heart problem caused by his diabetes. Because of a blockage in his left descending artery, he needed bypass surgery.

After the heart surgery, he had further complications with his lungs. There was water in his lungs and it had to be removed immediately. To make sure of his health, he underwent a CT scan. Unfortunately, his doctor discovered that Gary V also had cancer in his kidney.

“It was kinda big. It’s four centimeters by six centimeters. So if you get a little child’s hand that’s how big it is,” Gary V said.

Thank God, the next surgery was successful. “Luckily, it was half outside the kidney. It wasn’t in the main artery that connected to the rest of the body. It was very isolated. So when they went in and took 30% of my kidney, they took out that tumor too,” he added.

His two surgeries and the removal of the water in his lungs took place in just two weeks.

Gary V believes that God will not abandon him, so he wants to finish all his surgeries right away.

“I want this out. I don’t want to wait,” he explained. “It was brave and at the same time it was like, ‘Isn’t all I’ve been through enough? Isn’t that enough?’”

Sometimes, he says, he couldn’t help but turn to God for strength and answers to what was happening to him.

“He saw me through it and He wasn’t watching in the distance. He was with me every step of the way,” he happily said.

To this day, Gary V is amazed by God’s love and support in his life. He never thought he would make it through all these trials.
