In a deeply emotional revelation, singer-actor Ice Seguerra has admitted that a rift has developed between him and some members of his family following the death of his father. The former child star and LGBTQ+ advocate opened up about the lingering pain—not only of loss, but of unspoken tensions and unresolved wounds that surfaced after the tragedy.
Speaking through a heartfelt message posted on social media, Ice confessed,
“There’s pain I never imagined I’d feel—not just because I lost my father, but because in the middle of mourning, I also lost connection with some of the people I love.”
Though Ice did not go into specific details, sources close to the family claim that disagreements over family responsibilities, decision-making during the wake, and emotional misunderstandings may have contributed to the strain. The weight of grief often reveals underlying issues—and for Ice, it appears the loss of a parent reopened emotional wounds that had long been buried.
In his post, Ice alluded to feelings of exclusion and blame:
“You expect love and unity in times like this. But sometimes, pain and pride speak louder than compassion.”
The revelation shocked many of his fans, who had long admired Ice’s strength, honesty, and close-knit bond with his parents. His mother, who had always been publicly supportive of Ice’s identity and career, has remained silent on the issue.
Public reaction has been a mix of sympathy and sadness. Some netizens encouraged reconciliation and healing, while others pointed out how common such fractures are in Filipino families, especially when grief collides with deeply rooted cultural expectations and unspoken conflicts.
Despite the turmoil, Ice ended his message with a glimmer of hope:
“I pray that in time, healing will find us—not just as individuals, but as a family. I still believe in forgiveness.”
As of now, Ice continues to focus on his music, advocacy, and personal healing. Yet his story is a sobering reminder that even the strongest families can be torn apart in times of loss—and that grief doesn’t just take away a loved one; sometimes, it changes the living too.
Ice Seguerra, clear conscience on money being investigated by COA
We interviewed Ice (Aiza) Seguerra, at the launch of the second year of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, a project of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) at Max’s restaurant, regarding the Commission on Audit (COA)’s allegation that she submitted insufficient documents on the expenses for snacks that reached P268,000 when she was still the head of the National Youth Commission, (NYC). We asked Ice why she resigned as the head of the NYC because of the alleged allegation against her while being investigated. “Oh, no! No! It’s not even an investigation, it’s an observation since COA’s job is really to audit, they have things they want to ask, that’s their job. We’re going to provide justification. Even before I resigned, we had an exit conference, I even posted the picture of their (COA) letter saying that we had no disallowances.
“So it’s really a surprise when it came out because, I said, if they were going to release something like that, they would have released the National Youth Commission’s side as well,” Ice said.
No case has been filed against him and he is no longer interested in who is behind the issue.
“I really don’t care who or what. Maybe I’m used to our industry here (showbiz), where there are many people like that, no matter what industry you are in, there are many like that.”
His name was first implicated in corruption.
“I said, what? What the hell. A lot of people asked me if I’m gonna sue, I said, ‘Will I lose sleep, because I don’t know that I’m clean.’ The whole time I’m in that agency, I did my best and we made sure that all the paper works were done and we answered and justified it,” stressed the wife of FDCP Head Liza Diño.
As of press time, Ice has no issues with the COA because they have released all the documents that will prove that no corruption occurred in the money the agency is looking into.
”The National Youth Commission also released it, because for the longest time, NYC had an award for best accounting something. NYC is fine, that’s why we laughed because there are issues like this,” Ice said.
FDCP head Ms. Dino is very angry about the accusation against Ice’s wife because the amount in question is so small, since the P268,000 is just one song, which means that the former NYC head will not tarnish her name over a small amount.
“She’s my wife, that’s a normal reaction, I’ll feel the same thing ‘if (she) were to come, I would also defend my husband. And what she said was right, I’m actually happy with what she’s said, there are things that we learned when we entered government, especially that.
“People should also understand that not everyone is like that, it’s easy to criticize but the truth is that there are many good and honest people in the government who are just not appreciated because not everything good comes out.”
Ice also mentioned that his wife Liza’s chest is stronger and she is very open.
“She is brave, even I can follow her.”
And Liza has a good record as the head of the FDCP with so many projects now and above all, her expenses are clearly in black and white.
Meanwhile, does Ice think that what is happening against her is black propaganda?
“Maybe, I don’t know. I honestly don’t care. “I’m not a candidate and I don’t plan to be, I’m already out of government,” he replied.
Ice doesn’t hold any grudges about what happened to him because he said he learned something when he served in NYC for a year and a half.
