The grand finale of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 7 was nothing short of breathtaking—but it was Cardong Trumpo, a humble construction worker from the province, who emerged as the night’s biggest star. His performance, centered around the traditional Filipino toy trumpo (spinning top), earned him a thunderous standing ovation, the title of Grand Winner, and a ₱2 million cash prize.
🎪 A Night to Remember: Simplicity Stole the Spotlight
While the stage was filled with aerial acrobats, magicians, powerful singers, and contemporary dancers, it was one man with a wooden spinning top who left the deepest mark. Cardong Trumpo—real name Ricardo Cadavero—delivered a performance that was equal parts mesmerizing, skillful, and heartfelt.
In his finale act, Cardong spun multiple trumpos at once:
One balanced on the tip of his finger
Another twirled on a tightrope
One launched through a flaming hoop
And finally, a giant trumpo that danced across his body with perfect balance
The crowd roared. The judges were speechless.
💬 The Judges React
Judge Freddie Garcia said:
“We’ve seen thousands of talents, but you are something we’ve never seen before. You are art, you are magic, you are Filipino pride.”
Kathryn Bernardo was moved to tears, noting:
“You made something so simple feel so powerful. I will never forget this.”
🛠️ From Construction Site to Center Stage
What makes Cardong’s victory even more inspiring is his background. By day, he works in construction, using scrap materials to carve his own trumpos. With calloused hands and a quiet spirit, he practiced in his spare time—often on dirt roads, rooftops, or sidewalks.
In interviews, he shared:
“I never imagined standing on a stage like this. I just wanted to share something I loved since I was a child.”
He dedicated his win to his family, especially his child, whose future he now hopes to secure through this unexpected success.
🇵🇭 A Win for Filipino Culture
Cardong Trumpo’s victory was not just personal—it was a celebration of Filipino heritage. In an age dominated by technology, his act reminded the country of the value in tradition, the beauty of simplicity, and the artistry in everyday things.
Social media exploded with praise:
“A trumpo beat all the flashy acts! Incredible!”
“Cardong brought our childhood back to life.”
“PGT just became meaningful again.”
🏆 What Comes Next?
As the new Grand Winner, Cardong is now set for:
National and international interviews
Live guest appearances and performances
Possible endorsement deals
An invitation to represent the Philippines in Asia’s Got Talent
More importantly, he has vowed to use part of his winnings to build a safer home for his family and to start a free workshop where children can learn to make and spin traditional trumpos.
✨ Final Words: A True Filipino Champion
Cardong Trumpo didn’t just spin a top—he spun a story of hope, humility, and heritage. In doing so, he reminded the nation that greatness doesn’t always come from glitz and glamor—sometimes, it comes from wooden toys, strong hands, and a heart full of dreams
