Amidst the deep sadness that engulfed the showbiz world after the sudden passing of Superstar Nora Aunor, emotional statements from her children — Lotlot De Leon, Ian De Leon, and Matet De Leon — surfaced. In an interview after the funeral, the siblings both admitted that they were shocked, not only by the news of their mother’s passing, but by the fact that none of them knew about her true condition.
“We really had no idea that Mama was seriously ill,” Ian said while holding back tears. “We knew she had been suffering from something for a long time, but it wasn’t this serious. She didn’t say anything.”
Lotlot added, “I know Mama, she doesn’t like to be bothered. She always keeps her own problems to herself so that we don’t worry. But now, it feels… it feels heavy. It feels like there’s so much we didn’t know.”
Meanwhile, Matet was quiet at the beginning of the funeral but later expressed her thoughts. “If only we had known… we might have taken better care of her.”
However, some fans of the Superstar expressed their disappointment with the siblings’ statement. On social media, some said that the children seemed “insensitive” to their mother’s condition. “If they truly love Ate Guy, they should have made an effort to check in and find out how she is,” said one netizen.
But many others also defended the siblings, saying that Nora herself may have chosen not to reveal her true condition. Another fan commented, “We know Ate Guy—that strong and silent warrior. She’s not the type to cry and ask for help even when things are going really badly.”
Despite the issues surrounding the Superstar’s final moments, one thing is clear: Nora Aunor left a huge mark not only on the film industry, but in the hearts of millions of Filipinos, including her children who are now trying to rebuild their world with the loss of their beloved mother.
Lotlot De Leon, has spoken about the issue between Matet and Ate Guy; is there anyone on his side?
For the first time, Lotlot De Leon spoke and explained his thoughts and side regarding the reported resentment of his brother Matet De Leon towards their mother, Superstar Nora Aunor, over the issue of her allegedly copying the former’s gourmet tuyo and tinapa business.
At the end of 2022, it seems that the brother and sister still have a grudge against each other, especially since Matet made a statement that it seems that he will no longer talk to his mother.
In an interview with showbiz columnist Rey Pumaloy, during the media conference for the movie “That Boy in the Dark” starring Joaquin Domagoso, Lotlot was cornered and was unsure where he was positioned in the conflict between the two.
According to Lotlot, no one wins in these types of fights. Lotlot said he is just looking at the “bigger picture” of what happened.
“I hope eventually… things that need to be fixed will be fixed,” Lotlot said.
When asked if she was in the middle, the actress did not directly answer.
“It’s just like that… I don’t have any siblings with bad habits,” Lotlot said. “All my siblings, whether Ian, Matet, Kiko, Ken… they all have very good hearts. Because Mommy (Nora) is also the one who teaches them how to have a good heart.”
Lotlot further clarified that all the good things that can be seen in their siblings’ qualities were taught to them by their Mommy Guy, and they saw them in their parents while they were growing up. “All my siblings, they are all good people. They are all willing to sacrifice and love… Ian, he eats that pride, just to show you that he loves you. Matet, even if he cleans the bathroom, just to make you feel that he loves you. Kiko, it’s the same, if you need him to do something, or even if it’s not, all he can do, or offer is to listen, to whatever you have to say, he will listen. Kenneth is the type who, when you give him orders, does nothing… ” Lotlot defended his siblings.
Although they have different personalities, they are all the same when it comes to love. If there are any words that are said about each other, it is probably caused by some “pain” or “miscommunication” within the family, which is normal for anyone.
Ian recently shared his visit to Ate Guy last Christmas.
It is not clear whether Matet and his mother have reconciled before the end of 2022.
