Filipina actress Gela Atayde recently opened up about a funny-yet-embarrassing incident involving her mom, veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez, during a trip abroad — and the internet can’t get enough of it!
In a candid and lighthearted interview, Gela recalled how one simple “mom moment” in public left her absolutely mortified — and proved that Filipino moms will be Filipino moms no matter where in the world they are!

According to Gela, the unforgettable moment happened while they were shopping in a high-end store in Europe. Out of nowhere, Sylvia suddenly shouted across the store in Tagalog, calling her daughter as if they were in a local wet market.
“The whole place was so quiet and classy — and then all of a sudden I hear, ‘HOY, GELA!’ I swear, I wanted the floor to swallow me!” Gela said with laughter.
To make things even more awkward, Sylvia started bragging about Gela to the foreign staff, loudly telling them that she’s a “famous actress in the Philippines,” even though most of them didn’t understand a word!
“I was just standing there, wishing I could be invisible while she proudly introduced me,” Gela added.
