In a recent development that has stirred discussions among Filipino entertainment fans, John Rendez, a close friend and longtime collaborator of the late Superstar Nora Aunor, has reportedly expressed his disapproval over the use of the title “Young Superstar” for actress Judy Ann Santos.

While there is no official statement from Rendez on this matter, a video circulating online captures him reacting to the moniker attributed to Santos. In the video, Rendez emphasizes that the title “Superstar” is uniquely associated with Nora Aunor, suggesting that no one else should bear a similar designation. He reportedly stated, “Nora is the only Superstar,” underscoring his belief in Aunor’s unparalleled status in the Philippine entertainment industry.

This reaction has sparked conversations among fans and industry observers, with some agreeing with Rendez’s sentiment, citing Aunor’s iconic contributions to Philippine cinema and music. Others argue that titles evolve and can be adapted to honor emerging talents like Judy Ann Santos, who has also made significant strides in her career.

As of now, Judy Ann Santos has not publicly responded to the remarks attributed to John Rendez. The discussion continues to highlight the deep respect and admiration held for Nora Aunor and the sensitivity surrounding titles and honors in the entertainment world.

Judy Ann Santos on the ‘Young Superstar’ title: ‘No way, only Ate Guy!’
EVEN though the title “Young Superstar” has been around for a long time, Judy Ann Santos remains humble.

Her stance is also very clear that no one can replace the late Superstar Nora Aunor.

Juday attended the last night of Ate Guy’s funeral and was asked by some media outlets how it feels to be the heir to the legendary actress’ crown.

“I always say that no one can be another Superstar, only her, only Ate Guy,” she replied.

The celebrity mom continued, “Of course it’s heartwarming that there are people like that, but I really say it’s not possible. No one can match the fame, the extent that Ate Guy has achieved.”

“I won’t be a hypocrite or lie that I don’t enjoy it, but it’s not even close to what Ate Guy has achieved in my work, and it’s still far, far away, and I don’t think I’ll ever reach that,” she said.

But even so, Juday is very grateful that Ate Guy was a part of her showbiz journey.

“I’m honored. I’m grateful for the thought that she was part of my career,” she said.

If you recall, Judy Ann and Nora worked together in two movies – “Sana Mahalin Mo Ako” in 1988 and “Babae” in 1997.

When asked what she learned from Nora in the field of acting,

What Juday remembered was how generous the late actress was to her co-stars.

“Ate Guy is not the type of artist that would coach you but she will support you, as in guide you all the way. You will feel her on the scene, that is the suction, that is her power,” Judy Ann chiked.

She added, “You don’t need to motivate when Ate Guy is your scene partner because she will carry you.”

For Juday, there is no need to explain Ate Guy’s contribution to the industry because her name alone is enough.

“I think there is no need for more words for Ate Guy, her name alone stands […] What Ate Guy left behind is her excellence in acting. The extent of what she has achieved is that she expanded the world of show business, she paved the way for us. People had dreams because of her,” she explained. It will be recalled on April 22 when Nora was taken to her final destination and buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig.
