Manila – The entertainment industry is once again shaken after actress Janine Gutierrez allegedly revealed details about the strained relationship between her mother, Lotlot de Leon, and the late Superstar Nora Aunor, just days after the latter’s passing.

In a now-viral interview snippet shared online, Janine did not hold back when asked about the silent tensions within the family. The actress, visibly emotional, hinted that there were unresolved issues between Lotlot and her adoptive mother, Nora, that may have caused deep emotional wounds on both sides.

“There are truths that have been kept for so long. I think it’s time people know why certain relationships faded,” Janine said in a low, serious tone.

She said she couldn’t explain why she had a hard time acting in front of the veteran actress she worked with for the first time.

“I was nervous. I was more nervous. I don’t know. It was hard for me. I don’t know. I felt more for her when I watched it. Even with my siblings, we all do when mom comes in and the situation seems awkward, my brother cries or something,” said Gutierrez, who will star in the movie with JC Santos.

She added that her mother is starstruck and she’s more used to just watching her, so she was a bit nervous when they had scenes together.

While shooting it, I felt nervous. It seems like Director JP (Habac) really helped me with that scene. I must have been starstruck by my mother,” Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said he felt like he had to improve so that his mother would be proud of him. Despite this, he said he enjoyed their work.

“I feel like I have to step up when my mother is in the scene because she is my mother and everything I do is to make her proud. On one hand, it’s easier because she is my mother,” he said.

“On the other hand, it’s hard because she is my mother. But it was very fun. I appreciated that he really made a way for her to do the movie in her schedule and everything.”

The 31-year-old actress also shared that many of their scenes delve into how De Leon is really a mother to her in real life, such as asking who the man in her life is. De Leon will play Gutierrez’s mother in the show where she is a medical frontliner.

“That’s how she really looks at real life. Many people can really relate, so mothers are really different, right? They have psychic powers. They know when you love someone,” according to Gutierrez.

Their movie with Gutierrez is set to be released this March 31 on digital platforms such as KTX.ph, iWant TFC, Cinema ’76 @ Home, Upstream, and Ticket2Me.
