In a recent turn of events that has quickly become a topic of discussion, Kerwin Espinosa—the controversial figure known for his connections to high-profile scandals—took to social media and mocked actor-politician Richard Gomez in a rather unexpected way.

A Dance That Got People Talking

In a video that has since gone viral, Espinosa was seen performing an energetic and seemingly sarcastic dance routine to the popular Filipino street dance music Budots. What stood out, however, was the fact that Espinosa tagged Richard Gomez in the post, alluding to a possible previous interaction or conflict between the two.

“Budots moves for Richard Gomez. Let’s see if you can keep up, sir!” Espinosa wrote in the caption.

Richard Gomez’s Reputation at Stake?

Richard Gomez, who is well-known for his serious and disciplined image, especially in his role as mayor of Ormoc City, didn’t take kindly to the jab. Speculation has been growing as to whether there’s more to this than just a harmless social media post.

“It seems like there’s a history here,” one commenter said. “But for someone like Richard Gomez, who is usually very composed, this could be a different level of disrespect.”

The Budots Dance: A Symbol of Mockery?

The dance itself has been a symbol of mocking fun for many online, with critics claiming it’s a form of undermining or belittling others. In the context of this incident, the choice of music and dance could be seen as an intentional jab at Richard Gomez’s dignified reputation.

The Espinosa-Gomez Drama: More Than Meets the Eye?

Although Espinosa’s post seemed playful, many wonder if there’s more to the story. Espinosa’s past, filled with drama, has left many questioning his motives. Could this just be another stunt to gain attention, or is there a deeper personal issue between him and Richard Gomez?

As the controversy continues to unfold, the public is waiting for either Espinosa or Gomez to address the matter directly.

Kerwin Espinosa slams Richard Gomez: ‘Judging slowly’
It was not a peaceful Palm Sunday in Leyte’s 4th District after Albuera, Leyte mayoral candidate Kerwin Espinosa fired back at Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez for saying that the assassination attempt against Espinosa, a self-confessed drug lord, looked scripted.

Gomez, an actor and former nominee of the Mamamayan Ayaw sa Droga (MAD) party-list, cast doubt on the assassination attempt against Espinosa, saying the latter has no credibility.

“Do not believe somebody like him who has no credibility and is a self-confessed drug lord. He will not do anything good for mankind,” he said.

“Honestly, for me the ambush me is scripted. The acting is ugly, the work is ugly.” In response, Espinosa urged the congressman to be more introspective and humble during Holy Week.

“Be slow in your judgment, Congressman. Is it Holy Week yet? Think about your words and deeds, because the Lord does not like arrogance and pride. We are all human and have sins. What God looks for is the goodness of our hearts and how we treat others,” Espinosa said in a statement.

The mayoral bet also accused Gomez of “having a record of abuse” while pointing out his own history of helping others.

“You say I can’t do good to others? Look at yourself in the mirror. The people in our district know who is the one with the record of abuse, and who is the one who treats others better,” he addedEspinosa, previously known as “Boss K” in the underground trade, was shot during a campaign sortie in Barangay Tinag-an in Albuera town Thursday. His sister, Mariel Espinosa-Marinay, who is running for vice mayor, and another minor were also wounded in the incident.

The Philippine National Police said 7 police officers are considered “persons of interest” in connection with the shooting.

They are currently in the custody of the Leyte Provincial Police Office for investigation.

Espinosa previously hinted that a politician was behind the shooting, noting that the assassination attempt came after he endorsed the candidacy of ex-Court of Appeals Associate Justice Vicente Veloso III, Gomez’s opponent in the congressional race.

In his statement, Espinosa called out Police Regional Office 8 for allegedly shielding high-ranking officials from the standard inquest proceedings.

“I am very much concerned about the actuation of the Police Regional Office 8 in its failure to present the 7 Ormoc policemen to the Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings, and the pronouncements of the Leyte Provincial Office saying that the persons of interest do not need to undergo inquest,” he said. He said the PNP bypassed the Prosecutor’s Office by not bringing the accused for inquest.

“The Prosecutor’s Office is the one that has the right to declare if there is probable cause, but as of now, it is said that the PNP is the one who decided about it by refusing to take them to the prosecutor,” said Espinosa.

(“The Prosecutor’s Office has the authority to determine whether there is probable cause, but as of now, it seems that the PNP has taken it upon themselves to decide by refusing to bring them to the prosecutor’s office.”)

“If it was an ordinary person who was caught, they would certainly have been investigated. But because they are high-ranking and protected by the serving mayor and congressman, they have shown some strength until now,” said in the statement:

(“If it were an ordinary person who got arrested, they would’ve surely been inquested already. But because they are high-ranking and protected by the sitting mayor and congressman, they’re showing their power because up to now…”)Espinosa questioned why the investigation was taken away from the Albuera Police Station, which should have jurisdiction since the incident happened in Albuera. He said there is no recorded incident report regarding their apprehension in Albuera.
