🕯️ Lolit Solis’s Final Moments Before Passing Away — The Nation Mourns a Showbiz Icon
“She died the way she lived — unfiltered, unafraid, unforgettable.”
The Philippine entertainment industry has lost one of its boldest and most legendary figures. Lolit Solis, the outspoken talent manager, fearless columnist, and pioneer of Filipino showbiz journalism, has passed away — leaving behind a legacy that defined an era.
Her final moments, filled with quiet reflection and subtle goodbyes, have now come to light — and they’re every bit as powerful as the life she lived.
🕰️ Final Hours: Quiet, Private, and Unexpected
Lolit Solis was reportedly found unresponsive in her home in Quezon City early Monday morning. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
📋 Cause of Death:
Preliminary reports indicate cardiac arrest as the cause, likely brought on by complications from chronic kidney disease — a condition she had been battling for years.
Lolit had been undergoing regular dialysis treatments
She had become physically frail in recent months, but continued to work and post on social media
Friends say she showed no signs of immediate distress the night before
Her assistant reportedly told emergency responders:
“She told me not to wake her early. She just wanted to rest.”
That rest became eternal.
💔 Her Final Post — A Cryptic Goodbye?
Just 48 hours before her passing, Lolit made a post on Instagram that now feels eerily prophetic:
“If I die today, I’ve said what I needed to say. I regret nothing.”
What most saw as another one of her no-filter quotes has now taken on a haunting significance, with fans flooding the comment section with prayers, tributes, and disbelief.
🏥 Health Struggles She Kept Hidden Behind Humor
For years, Lolit Solis was fighting a quiet war behind the scenes:
She openly talked about her dialysis treatments, even joking about them
In interviews, she laughed off her pain, saying:
“Kung mamamatay ako, at least na-chismis ko kayong lahat.”
Behind the sarcasm, however, was a woman increasingly exhausted — mentally, emotionally, and physically.
👑 A Legacy Etched in Chika and Controversy
Lolit Solis wasn’t just a showbiz writer — she shaped careers, ruined reputations, and changed the course of celebrity culture in the Philippines.
Her achievements include:
Managing stars like Gabby Concepcion and Ruffa Gutierrez
Co-hosting the iconic show “Startalk”
Writing decades of juicy, headline-grabbing columns
Surviving multiple controversies — and somehow coming out fiercer every time
“She was blunt, fearless, and often brutal. But that was her magic,” said a fellow showbiz columnist.
😭 Tributes Pour In: “Tita Lolit, Rest Now. The Battle’s Over.”
The moment her death was confirmed, celebrities, fans, and media veterans took to social media:
Boy Abunda: “We didn’t always agree, but I always admired her fire.”
Kris Aquino: “She fought with me, then fought for me. That’s who she was.”
Ogie Diaz: “We lost a lioness.”
Hashtags like #RIPLolitSolis, #LegendGone, and #QueenOfChika trended instantly.
📖 Her Unfinished Book: The Stories She Never Told
Sources close to her say Lolit had been working on a memoir, said to contain stories she was saving for “after she’s gone.” It is unclear whether the manuscript is finished or will be released posthumously.
🕊️ Final Thoughts: She Said It All
Lolit Solis lived loudly. She loved hard, spoke louder, and never held back.
Even in death, she left behind a message — not of weakness, but of unapologetic truth.
“She didn’t just cover showbiz. She WAS showbiz.”
And now, with her voice finally silent, the industry she helped build will never sound the same again.

Lolit Solis, talent manager and controversial showbiz figure, dead at 78
Veteran showbiz columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis died on Thursday, July 3, after her long battle with kidney disease, as confirmed by her family. She was 78.
Solis’ death was confirmed by her daughter Sneezy in a message to the Inquirer on Friday, July 4.
“Our beloved Manay Lolit Solis has peacefully joined her Creator last July 3, 2025. Manay Lolit leaves behind a loving family and many friends who will always cherish her memory,” she said.
“We love you, our dearest Manay, and you will forever be in our hearts,” she added. “Rest well now in the loving embrace of our Lord.”
Showbiz columnist Gorgy Rula, who was designated as official spokesperson of the bereaved family, likewise said in his Facebook post on Friday, July 4, he would remember Solis as a “feisty and staunch loyal supporter, manager and friend.”
Veteran columnist and Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) president Salve Asis also echoed Sneezy and Rula’s sentiments and shared their statement on her Facebook page.

Manay Lolit’s wards
Actors Niño Muhlach as well as father and son Bong and Jolo Revilla also respectively paid tribute to the veteran showbiz personality through their Facebook pages.
“Paalam Nanay Lolit Solis,” Muhlach said. (Goodbye, Nanay Lolit Solis.)
“Paalam Nanay Lolit. Pahinga ka na. Wala nang sakit; wala nang hirap,” Bong said. “Maraming salamat sa pagmamahal at pagkalinga.” (Goodbye, Nanay Lolit. No more pain and suffering. Thank you so much for your love and care.)
“You have been a solid rock for me, a staunch defender, and most importantly—a mother who took care of me and my family up to your last days with us,” he added.
Jolo likewise expressed his gratitude to Solis, recalling the time when she served as his talent manager.
Solis had been vocal about her medical condition through her social media pages, sharing instances from the hospital and from when she underwent dialysis treatment.
Just last April, the showbiz columnist disclosed that she had been undergoing dialysis treatment twice a week, with each session lasting for four hours.
“Tanggapin na lang. Wala ka nang magagawa,” she said at the time. (I already accepted it. I can no longer do anything about it.)
“Salamat sa mga alaga ko, sa mga kaibigan, (Thank you to my talents, my friend) I can happily face and accept it,” she added. “Que sera, sera, what will be, will be. Remain standing, and not losing faith.”
This didn’t stop her from attending her last birthday celebration in May when she was feted by her friends in show business, among them Rula, Asis, and celebrity friends like Bong Revilla and wife Lani Mercado, Lorna Tolentino, Christopher de Leon and wife Sandy Andolong, Glydel Mercado and Tonton Gutierrez, and Gladys Reyes.
In her last post shared on Thursday, July 3, Solis lamented feeling “hopeless, helpless and weak” amid her condition, describing it as an “eye-opener” for her.
“Si God, alam niya when or where ibibigay sa iyo ang mga bagay. So grateful na ngayon older na ako nangyari ito. Meron na ako ng pasensiya at wisdom na tanggapin mga bagay,” she said.
(God knows when or where to give you things. [I am] so grateful that this has happened now that I’m older. I have the patience and wisdom to accept things.)
Controversial past
Solis made a name in the showbiz industry as an entertainment columnist, talent manager and a show host, including stints in the now-defunct talk shows “Startalk” and “CelebriTV.”
In 1994, she was involved in the “Manila Film Festival scam” where she admitted to manipulating the results for the Best Actor and Best Actress awards. Solis announced her then-talents Gabby Concepcion and Ruffa Gutierrez as the winners, instead of real winners Edu Manzano and Aiko Melendez
