“It Was Too Much to Bear”: Matet De Leon Breaks Down After Reading Late Superstar Nora Aunor’s Final Will

In an emotionally charged moment that has taken fans and insiders by storm, actress Matet De Leon was seen in tears after reportedly reading the last will and testament of her mother, the late legendary actress Nora Aunor — affectionately known to millions as “Ate Guy.”

A Mother’s Final Words Shake a Daughter to the Core

Sources close to the family say that Matet, who had been quiet and reserved throughout the wake of her mother, was suddenly overwhelmed with emotion after privately reading a portion of Nora’s final wishes. Witnesses describe a heartbreaking scene: Matet clutching a folded letter, tears streaming down her face, whispering,

“I didn’t expect this… not this.”

While the contents of the will remain confidential, one insider hinted that it contained a deeply personal message from Nora to each of her children — and Matet’s message, in particular, “felt like a final conversation between mother and daughter — raw, honest, and filled with both love and pain.”

A Complicated Relationship

Fans have long known that Nora and Matet’s relationship wasn’t always smooth sailing. The public has seen glimpses of their tensions in past interviews, with Matet occasionally opening up about feeling neglected or misunderstood. Yet despite the past, Matet remained present and dignified throughout her mother’s final moments — even holding her hand during Nora’s last hours, according to family members.

Her reaction to the will, however, suggests that there were things left unsaid for far too long — and Nora, in her final act, tried to say them all at once.

The Will That Rocked the Family

While Nora Aunor’s estate is significant, the emotional weight of the will seems to have hit harder than the material inheritances. A family friend revealed:

“It wasn’t about the money or the properties. It was about closure. About healing wounds that had been open for years.”

It’s believed that the will also contained special instructions regarding Nora’s legacy, including how her films, memorabilia, and personal writings would be handled. But for Matet, what mattered most was the letter inside — a handwritten note, reportedly penned weeks before the actress’s passing.

Fans Send Love and Support

As news broke about Matet’s tearful breakdown, fans flooded social media with messages of support:

“Stay strong, Matet. Nora may be gone, but her love will always live through you.”
“Reading her mother’s final words must’ve been like reliving their whole story in a few pages.”
“We cried with you, Matet.”

A Final Goodbye, But Not the End

Though Nora Aunor has taken her final bow, her story — and the stories of those she leaves behind — continue to unfold. Matet’s moment of vulnerability reminds us all that even the brightest stars leave behind shadows of memory, love, regret, and redemption.

As the nation mourns the loss of a cultural icon, one thing is certain: the bond between Nora and her daughter Matet, no matter how complicated, will forever be etched in the hearts of Filipinos.

Matet De Leon on mom Nora Aunor: ‘I will never talk to her again’
The rift between Nora Aunor and her daughter Matet De Leon continues to grow, especially after the latest issue over business.

Last December 4, Matet couldn’t hold back her frustration upon learning that her mom has decided to sell a product that directly competes with hers.

“All of a sudden, I was just surprised, my mother released a direct competition of my product. She knew I had a product like that,” she lamented on her Instagram. “Honor thy father and mother. How? How can I do that now?” continued Matet. “Oh, I’m adopted.”

The actress was adopted by Nora and her then-partner, actor Christopher de Leon. Also adopted are her siblings Lotlot, Kenneth, and Kiko. Her brother Ian is the only biological child of the couple.

She also disclosed that someone told her to just resell her mom’s products despite her business being established first.

In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Matet revealed that it was her youngest brother Kenneth De Leon who told her so.

“My brother said, ‘Why don’t you just resell mommy’s products?’ That’s what our youngest did to me,” she said.

Matet shared that had they been upfront with her and consulted her about the idea from the beginning, she may have considered doing so.

I might have done it if it had been discussed,” she said.

As it happened, Matet felt betrayed because they went behind her back to create a competing product. She admitted that it was upsetting to find out that her brother and his girlfriend also worked with Nora on creating the products.

“I know, they kept it a secret from me because my brother’s girlfriend — both of them — were part of the creation,” she explained.

Adding insult to injury was the fact that she wasn’t even informed of the plan, despite being with said girlfriend prior to the revelation.

“Why didn’t you tell me if you didn’t mean to upset me?” she questioned. “I’m with my girlfriend because they’re moving close to home… The guy looked at me in the eyes as if nothing was happening. “In another Instagram post, Matet further explained exactly why she was upset.

“I will clear this out for the blind ones. It’s not about the products,” she stressed. “What hurts me is not the product, it’s what he did himself.”

When the story broke out, there were many who hurled hurtful words towards her and her siblings.

“Whenever mommy does something wrong, even if we don’t speak, you beat us. Why is that?” she asked.

After years of this, Matet said that she has learned to become numb to the bashing. “It doesn’t hurt me anymore — what they’re saying — because no. 1: they don’t know the truth. No. 2: they’re just there for the circus of all of this,” she explained.

Still, there were those who sympathized with Matet and supported her products. While Matet was grateful that her items sold out, it was bittersweet because she felt it came “at the expense of [her] relationship with [her] mother. “

The rift between Nora and her children has been going on for years, and this issue is just one of many. Matet said that while bits and pieces of their story have come out, the public still do not know the full extent of it.

Matet and her siblings have been subjected to criticisms over their conflict with their mom, and have been called ungrateful. Matet begged to disagree.

“I’m still paying the debt because there’s so much you don’t know,” Matet revealed. “‘When it comes out, everything will be ruined.”She said as much in her own vlog.

“It’s not [fixable] because I don’t know how you can do that to your child. It’s so hard for us siblings,” she said. “It’s just over and over again.”

“It’s like we’re tied up, like we’re being slapped by all of you [that] we’re not worth having as an adopted child,” she added. “We can’t tell you what we’ve been through because mommy will be ruined.”

Matet clarified that she had no intention of speaking ill of her mother, and that she accepted Ogie’s invitation simply to air her side of the story. However, she did admit that while she still loves her mother Nora, she couldn’t see how things can still be patched up between her and her mom.

“I won’t talk to her again,” Matet stated. “It seems to me, I’ve done everything.”
