QC bakery sells ‘Pan de Nora’ in honor of the late ‘Superstar’ Nora Aunor to commemorate 72nd birthday
Fans of the late ‘Superstar’ and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor flocked to Kamuning Bakery in Quezon City on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, for the launch of “Pan de Nora,” a special bread created in her honor to commemorate her 72nd birthday.

As of 7 a.m., the 86-year-old bakery in Quezon City had already packed over 500 pieces for advance orders on its first day.

“That’s why it’s called Pan de Nora, because we put a nunal on it… the nunal is raisin and the inside is butter and cheese,” said bakery staffer Noren Olivar.

Among the early customers was Dong Abutal, 58, who placed his order around 6 a.m. He said the bread brought back memories of his mother taking him to the cinema to watch Aunor’s films.

“I saw it on Facebook feed. Since I’m from Kamuning, I thought about buying and bringing some to my fellow teachers… it’s my mother who introduced us siblings to Nora Aunor, so I remember, when we were little, she would take us to the cinema.”

Mary Jane Lumiding, 27, said her boss asked her to stop by the bakery to buy the bread upon seeing it online.

After tasting it, she ended up ordering some for herself.

“It’s melty with cheese and not just air inside. It’s really good. It’s worth the purchase… I’ll buy it again because it’s really delicious,” she said.

Aunor, who rose to fame in the 1960s, starred in iconic films such as “Himala” (1982), “The Flor Contemplacion” Story (1995), and “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos,” where she won Best Actress awards from both Gawad Urian and FAMAS.

She died on April 16, 2025, at the age of 71.

Aunor was laid to rest beside director Ishmael Bernal at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City on April 22
