Actress Ria Atayde has released a statement regarding the issues being thrown at her after Kathryn Bernardo’s statement regarding her true friends during her contract renewal with Star Magic and ABS-CBN on February 2, 2024.

There were issues that allegedly Ria Atayde and Kathryn Bernardo were no longer friends after her breakup with Daniel Padilla. Some even suspected that Ria Atayde allegedly knew what Daniel Padilla was doing behind the actress’s back but was just tolerating it.

It can be recalled that in Kathryn Bernardo’s statement, she stated that it was difficult to find true friends within the showbiz industry because there were different people behind and in front of the camera.

Kathryn Bernardo also stated that the year 2023 was difficult for her because she allegedly did not know who her true friends were at that time and it was difficult to trust the people around her.

Many netizens believe that Kathryn Bernardo is referring to Ria Atayde as a non-real friend. Many have noticed that she has not been with the actress since her breakup with Daniel Padilla.

The 2018 movie The Hows of Us turned out to be a blessing for Kathryn Bernardo and Ria Atayde.

They became fast friends on the set when they least expected it.

Ria recalled her first meeting with Kathryn to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and a small group of media at the launch of KFC’s newest menu item, the Chaco, last May 7.

She said, “With Kath, it’s like, before we started shooting the movie, we weren’t chummy-chummy, you know?

“We never really got to know each other beyond ‘hi, hello’ at events. Always just ‘hi, hello’.

“And then when I did the movie, I was like, ‘Ah okay. He’s okay.’ And I think he’s the same with me. ‘Ah, he’s okay.’

“Then there. Ever since we finished How of Us, we’ve been inseparable. Also with Gege.”

The “Gege” she referred to was their film co-star, spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo.

Ria also shared she has always been close to the family of Daniel Padilla, Kathryn’s boyfriend.

She is the daughter of Sylvia Sanchez, who is close to Karla Estrada, Daniel’s mom.

“Growing up, I was close to Daniel’s family,” Ria said, “Our families are family friends, so that’s no surprise why I still hang out around him.”THE GIFT OF FRIENDSHIP
In a separate interview in April, Kathryn expressed how happy she is about her newfound friendship with Ria.

“I feel like we’ve known each other for so long now,” she said.

“Because of Ria, I’ve seen her but we haven’t really bonded. It was really the first time when we shot The Hows of Us.

“And I love her so much because she’s very funny, she’s very real, she’s weird like me. She loves to eat like me, so we have a lot in common.”

Kathryn described this newfound friendship as one of the most beautiful gifts she received from 2018.

“The friendship that has been formed until now, this is the kind of friendship that I will keep forever.”

GOOD INFLUENCE
Ria, on the other hand, shared what she appreciates the most about Kathryn.

“It goes both ways. We’ve been able to establish a friendship with trust, honesty, and, you know, we both are able to give each other advice.

“It’s good. It’s a really good friendship… She’s been a good influence on me.

“Didn’t I tell you I don’t like makeup and all like that? She’s influenced me to fix myself.

“I mean, it’s not much. The tricks in life, I learned from him.

“She’s also a very good supportive friend. I really appreciate her… She’s like a sister even though she’s younger than me, eh.

“Especially since I’ve only been in the industry four years this year, so when it’s work-related stuff, I’m able to ask advice from her.”

FRIENDSHIP PIERCING
Back in February, Kathryn, Ria, and Juan Miguel celebrated their friendship with a “friendship piercing.”

Both Kathryn and Ria said that the three of them had been planning to do it since filming the movie.

Kathryn recounted to PEP.ph in April, “Actually, it’s been a while since we talked about it, but we’re all tired.

“We didn’t want to do it until one time, we said, ‘When are you free? When are you free? Come on, let’s do it while we’re all free.’

“So there, we got pierced because it seems like we do it, I said, every milestone in our lives, we get pierced.

“So, this, for Hows of Us because of our friendship. And then, we still want something next, but I still let Mom know because she said I looked like a racist.

“After the movie, I was hoping, so there. We both got friendship piercings.”
