Noong 12 years old sya, ay dumalo ang kanilang pamilya sa isang party, at pinakanta sya 1970’s hits na Bato sa Buhangin. Ang kanyang tiyuhin na si Tito Sotto, na asawa ni helen gamboa, ay andun din daw sa party at narinig syang kumanta. Si tito ang vice president ng Vicor Music nung mga panahon na iyon, kaya inalok niya si Sharon na gumawa ng record sa ilalim ng kanyang label. Sa edad na labing dalawa, ay ni record ni Sharon ang kanyang pinakaunang single, ang Tawag Ng Pag Ibig.
