The Filipino music industry is in mourning following the passing of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) legend Hajji Alejandro. But behind the solemnity of the wake lies a storm of emotions and a family conflict that no one saw coming.
According to multiple sources close to the Alejandro family, Hajji’s wife was reportedly prohibited by his children from attending the wake, igniting a wave of questions and heartbreak among fans and close friends.
Witnesses at the wake described an atmosphere that was not only heavy with grief but also charged with tension. While fellow artists, friends, and supporters paid their respects with tearful tributes and songs, many were left stunned by the absence of Hajji’s spouse, who has stood beside the singer for many years.
“You could feel the sadness — not just because we lost Hajji, but because something deeper was going on within the family,” one guest at the wake shared anonymously.
Rumors began circulating as early as the second night of the wake, with whispers suggesting that the children allegedly blocked their stepmother from entering the venue. Some insiders claim that longstanding disagreements may have caused the rift, tensions that apparently reached a breaking point after Hajji’s passing.
The family has yet to release an official statement, but fans have already begun speculating online. Posts like “Why was she not allowed in? She stood by him for so long!” and “The truth behind this family drama needs to come out” have flooded comment sections and forums.
Meanwhile, a close friend of the family, speaking on condition of anonymity, said:
“This is a time for unity, not division. Hajji wouldn’t have wanted this. He was a man of peace and harmony, especially when it came to family.”
As tributes continue to pour in for the OPM icon, supporters are hoping that the Alejandro family will eventually come together to heal — both from their loss and from the wounds that may have quietly festered over the years.
Will the truth behind this family dispute come to light?
Or will it be buried with the man who once brought the nation together through his timeless songs?
Only time — and courage — will reveal
“My love,
“We spent the last 8 days of your life together.
“I am grateful to your kids Ali and Rachel for reaching out to me. I have been waiting. I think of you every hour of every day,” the message began, referring to Ali and Rachel, Hajji’s orphaned children.
Alynna continued, “2 months ordeal with Metastatic Colon CA, Stage 4.
You refused another trip to the hospital and chose palliative care instead, in the comforts of your home, in the company of people you love.
“You knew you were leaving us soon,” the singer said.
Alynna said she had already helped Hajji leave to go to God and only see him in his dreams.
“We listened to our favorite songs and we both had tears in our eyes.
“Your precious voice has been impaired because CA had constricted your respiratory system as well.
“But I felt your love even without words. And despite the pain, restlessness and hallucinations, you tried to hold my hand…
“I whispered in your ear. ‘Go with God. I love you so much. See you in my dreams.’
“No more pain, love. Just pure bliss with our Heavenly Father,” continued Hajji’s partner.
Alynna and Hajji would have celebrated their 27th anniversary as a couple yesterday, April 22, “In your final hours, you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and His promise of eternal life in His Presence.
“My love… you tried to hold on… you know it is our special day today.

“April 22, 2025.
“Happy 27th Anniversary, my one and only love, Hajji Alejandro.“See you in God’s time. I love you eternally.”
