Jackie Lou Blanco fondly remembers estranged husband Ricky Davao

Jackie Lou and Ricky married in 1989 and separated in 2011.

Jackie Lou Blanco couldn’t help but get emotional as she remembered the late actor Ricky Davao on ABS-CBN’s Sunday musical-variety show ASAP Natin ‘To.

Jackie Lou is Ricky’s estranged wife.

They have three children—Kenneth, Rikki Mae, and Ara Davao.

Ricky passed away due to cancer on May 1, 2025. He was 63. On ASAP this Sunday, May 4, 2025, hosted by Gary Valenciano and Jackie Lou, they paid tribute to Ricky.

Gary told viewers: “I know you’re all watching this and some of you might feel that it’s too heavy.

“But you will also see in ASAP, it’s not just about entertainment, it’s about not paying tribute, but really showing love to the people who have impacted our lives.

“On Friday, another of our industry colleagues passed away, award-winning actor and director Ricky Davao.

“Now, I’m with someone who was a part of his life, Jackie Lou again, just like Tita Pilita.”

The “Tita Pilita” Gary was referring to was Asia’s Queen of Song Pilita Corrales, Jackie Lou’s mother. Pilita passed away at the age of 87 on April 12.

After sending her mother Pilita to her final destination, Jackie Lou is once again mourning the passing of Ricky.

However, Jackie and others who loved the actor will cherish the happy memories of him.

As close to Jackie Lou, Gary asked her what kind of person Ricky was.

Jackie Lou described Ricky as a cheerful person. He was also a very good father to their children.

Although they were separated They said that this did not hinder Ricky from fulfilling his role as a father to their children.

They also remained friends, something the actress is grateful for.

Looking back at Jackie Lou: “Ricky was very cheerful, loved to sing. My children and I joked, he was like a mayor, he was.

“Because he had such good energy. Always laughing, always making people laugh.

“You know, even if Ricky and I were separated for years, we got to a point where we got along well.

“We were able to celebrate all our children’s birthdays together, we have trips together.

“We may not have ended up together, but we co-parented, and we had so much love for each other as we were together and for our children.”

In 2011, they decided to separate after 22 years of marriage.

In an interview with Jackie Lou on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on June 9, 2023, she shared her regret over her and Ricky’s separation.

The actress said at the time: “If I could change anything, I wish Ricky and I wouldn’t have broken up— if I could change him.

“Only because I can see how affected my children were. Although they are very understanding, but you know they have been affected in many ways.

Before his passing, Ricky was happy with his relationship of over three years with Mayeth Malca Darroca.

Ricky and Mayeth are believed to have become lovers in 2022.
