Matet de Leon burst into tears as she expressed regret over not having frequently talked with her late mom, National Artist Nora Aunor, due to their past rifts.

The younger actress was overwhelmed with emotions as she stood in front of the Superstar’s coffin and delivered her eulogy during the last night of the latter’s wake on Monday, April 21.

“Of course, it’s not unknown to everyone that Mommy and I have a lot in common. I’m the one — according to her good friends who take care of her — that mommy always refers to as ‘her stubborn son,’” she said.

Matet de Leon admits regrets over past feuds with mom Nora Aunor

One of the mother-and-daughter feuds that were known to the public happened in 2022, when Matet called out her mom for allegedly directly competing with her gourmet tuyo business.

At the time, Matet said she felt “betrayed” by Aunor and declared that she would never speak to the latter again. Fortunately, the two of them were able to mend their falling-out after a month.

“We have misunderstandings; we haven’t talked many times,” Matet continued during the wake. “‘My siblings talked to mommy but I didn’t talk much.”

“I don’t want to talk because I am still full of regrets,” she admitted, wiping the tears from her faceMatet further hoped that Aunor was aware that she was with her during her last moments.

Matet then faced the casket as she addressed the late Superstar, “You know, Ma, what I said to you. I love you so much, Mommy. Rest in peace.”

Aside from Matet, Aunor’s other children — Lotlot de Leon, Ian de Leon, Kenneth and Kiko — also honored their mom through their eulogies.

Aunor died last April 16 at the age of 71 due to acute respiratory failure. She was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Tuesday, April 22.
