MANILA — Regine Velasquez couldn’t hold her tears as she performed on Sunday a song dedicated to her late father, Gerry Velasquez, on the occasion of Father’s Day.

Velasquez was part of a segment where mainstays of “ASAP Natin ‘To” performed tunes as tribute to fathers.

Velasquez’s song was her original “First Man In My Life,” which she originally released in 2017, three years after Gerry’s passing.

Visibly emotional and her voice shaking at certain points, Velasquez was in tears towards the end of her number.

“I miss you, Mang Gerry. I love you. Happy Father’s Day,” she said.

Gerry had been a visible figure in Velasquez’s music career until his passing in February 2014, with the singer crediting him as her biggest supporter and source of strength.
