Manila, Philippines — Just days after whistleblower Julie Don-Don Patidongan exposed damning details about the missing sabungeros and their alleged connection to gambling lord Atong Ang, tragedy has struck close to home.

Reports confirm that a man identified as a close friend and “kinakapatid” of Patidongan was gunned down in cold blood by unknown assailants Tuesday night in Quezon Province — and what’s more horrifying, his pregnant female companion was also hit during the ambush.

While police have yet to issue an official motive, early whispers suggest one name behind the act: Atong Ang.

“This wasn’t a robbery. This was a message,” a source close to Patidongan said.
“And it was loud.”

🚨 The Ambush

The attack reportedly happened around 10:47 PM, along a poorly lit road in Barangay San Vicente. Witnesses say two men on a motorcycle approached the parked vehicle where the victim and his companion were seated.

Without warning, five gunshots rang out.

The male victim died instantly from gunshots to the chest and head. The pregnant woman was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition, according to medical staff.

Recovered from the scene:

9mm shell casings

A burner phone reportedly used for threats

A note with the words: “Tumahimik ka, o susunod ka.”
(“Stay silent, or you’re next.”)

😨 Was This Revenge?

The attack comes just days after Julie Patidongan testified in a closed-door session, claiming that Atong Ang had direct knowledge — and involvement — in the abduction and silencing of e-sabong whistleblowers.

While no official case has been filed against Ang, Patidongan’s explosive claims triggered a new wave of online and Senate scrutiny.

Now, with the murder of someone close to her, netizens are asking:

“Is this Atong Ang’s warning shot?”

🧨 Public Reactions Erupt

The internet exploded with rage and fear.

“First, the sabungeros. Now this? Who’s safe?” – @JusticeForAllPH

“They went after a pregnant woman? WALANG KALULUWA!” – @PinayTruthSeeker

“Julie Patidongan, please stay safe. You’re shaking a very dangerous tree.” – @BantayBayanOfficial

Hashtags like #AtongAng, #JusticeForJulie, and #StopTheSilencePH trended within hours of the attack.

⚖️ Authorities Speak

Police have confirmed that the case is now under “special investigation,” with both local PNP and elements of the NBI involved.

“We are not ruling out any angle, including political, personal, or retaliatory motives,” said Col. Ricardo Sarmiento of Quezon PNP.
“We’re also looking into the victim’s connection to ongoing Senate inquiries.”

The Senate committee on public order, chaired by Senator Bato Dela Rosa, has already requested additional security for Julie Patidongan and her immediate family.

“This is no coincidence,” Bato stated.
“The timing is too close. We will not let fear win.”

😱 Who’s Next?

With emotions running high and the stakes rising daily, many fear that this might be just the beginning of a violent cover-up meant to silence witnesses, erase links, and stop justice dead in its tracks.

Calls for a full-blown Senate hearing into alleged state-backed protection of e-sabong operations are now louder than ever.

Some senators are pushing for Atong Ang to be subpoenaed publicly — a bold move that could either reveal everything… or ignite even more chaos.

💔 A Life Lost, A Legacy Threatened

As funeral plans are arranged for Patidongan’s slain “kinakapatid,” the family is reportedly in hiding. The pregnant woman remains in surgery. And Julie? She has gone silent.

But in that silence, one thing is clear:

This is no longer just about gambling. This is a war between truth and terror.
