Missing sabungeros pinatay sa slaughterhouse malapit sa fishpond sa Laurel, Batangas – alyas Totoy | Police Files! Tonite

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In what is now being called the most explosive revelation in the case of the missing sabungeros, whistleblower Julie “Totoy” Patidongan has officially named 18 police officers allegedly involved in the kidnapping, torture, and dumping of cockfighting enthusiasts into Taal Lake—a revelation that has stunned the country and triggered an outcry for sweeping justice.

The allegations, backed by official complaints filed with the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), point to a chilling plot that stretches back to 2021–2022, when at least 34 sabungeros (cockfighting bettors and handlers) disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

According to Patidongan, these individuals were targeted, abducted, and silenced to protect a powerful illegal e-sabong gambling syndicate. And now, bone fragments found in the depths of Taal Lake could be the missing link that confirms his story.

💥 A WHISTLEBLOWER STEPS FORWARD

Julie Patidongan, a former insider who once worked as a security aide for a major e-sabong operator, submitted a sworn affidavit and multiple supporting documents to NAPOLCOM, implicating 13 active and 5 former police officers.

In his chilling testimony, he claimed:

“These sabungeros were not missing—they were murdered. Kinuha sila ng mga pulis, binugbog, pinatay… pagkatapos, tinapon sa Taal Lake. (They were taken by police, beaten, killed… then dumped in Taal Lake.)”

He detailed how victims were picked up from cockfighting arenas, blindfolded, interrogated, and then allegedly bound with sandbags before being thrown into the volcanic lake.

The motive? According to Patidongan, many of these men had information on rigged fights, financial fraud, and links between syndicates and government officials.

🦴 TAAL LAKE: FROM TOURIST DESTINATION TO GRAVEYARD?

Patidongan’s claims were initially dismissed by skeptics—until divers working with police and Coast Guard teams retrieved six bone fragments and bloodied fabric remnants near the north basin of Taal Lake.

While forensic testing is ongoing, officials believe the remains could match some of the missing men, adding serious weight to Patidongan’s allegations.

“We’ve confirmed that at least some of the bone material is human,” said PNP Forensic Director Col. Joven Eleazar. “We’re expediting DNA testing with the help of victim families.”

Already, grieving relatives—some of whom had lost hope—are re-submitting DNA samples to compare with the bones pulled from the lakebed.

⚖️ 18 POLICE OFFICERS NAMED

In coordination with the whistleblower, 12 administrative complaints have already been filed against the implicated officers. NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman Atty. Rafael Calinisan confirmed that the names include:

3 Police Captains

6 Patrolmen

2 Intelligence Officers

1 Police Colonel

6 already-dismissed but previously uncharged personnel

“If proven true, these allegations represent one of the darkest stains on law enforcement in modern Philippine history,” Calinisan stated.

He assured the public of “no sacred cows” in the investigation.

👥 FAMILIES DEMAND JUSTICE: “WE’VE WAITED LONG ENOUGH!”

The families of the missing sabungeros have now rejoined the legal battle with renewed energy. Dozens rallied outside NAPOLCOM holding photographs, candles, and banners reading:

“Nasaan na ang hustisya?”
“Mga pulis ang pumatay!”
“Hindi kami titigil!”

Elena Rosales, mother of 27-year-old victim Danilo, wept as she said:

“For two years, we were told to wait. To hope. But now, we know they knew all along. The truth was at the bottom of the lake.”

🔍 ATONG ANG AND GRETCHEN BARRETTO BACK IN SPOTLIGHT

Patidongan also reignited allegations involving businessman Atong Ang, long rumored to be behind major online sabong operations. He claimed Ang gave the orders to silence whistleblowers—and that some of the officers acted on his directive.

He even named actress Gretchen Barretto, stating she was “aware of and benefited from” the operations. Both Ang and Barretto have strongly denied involvement and have threatened legal action for defamation.

Still, online speculation is rampant, and the public demands answers.

🧠 DEEP SYSTEMIC ISSUES?

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa called for an emergency Senate hearing, stating:

“This is more than just a criminal case—it’s a national trauma. We need a full investigation into police corruption and gambling syndicates.”

Human rights groups have now joined calls for:

Full DOJ oversight

Independent forensics audit

International observers in the investigation

📢 PUBLIC OUTRAGE SPILLS ONLINE

Netizens are erupting in anger:

#JusticeForSabungeros

#CleanUpThePNP

#ExposeTheSyndicates

One viral comment read:

“They gambled for fun, and paid with their lives. This isn’t just a scandal—it’s murder!”

📝 WHAT’S NEXT?

With forensic results expected within the month, and Patidongan now under protective custody, the investigation appears to be accelerating.

But many worry it won’t be enough. Calls for mass suspensions, criminal prosecutions, and even a truth commission are being floated.

The question now is not just who did it—but how high up does this go?
