Valeria was born in Mexico in 2002, and her family lived in the town of Zapopan in the Jalisco district. According to her parents, Valeria had a love for modeling ever since she was young. And with her natural beauty, she had no trouble entering the world of modeling.

In fact, at the age of 15, she was already featured in various photoshoots. Eventually, she became the face of several brands, such as Beauty Body Level. She modeled clothes, jewelry, uniforms, gowns—even accepted a gig modeling candy. With her stunning beauty, she also appeared in the music video for the song “Hoy la Vipazar.”

It was also reported that she entered the pageant world and became the representative of Jalisco during Miss Mexico 2024. She didn’t just have beauty; every time she spoke, people listened to her because of her presence and strong charisma.

This combination of qualities made her incredibly famous, earning her thousands of followers on social media. When TikTok started to boom, she didn’t miss out. Alongside her modeling career, she created an account and began calling herself an influencer.

There, she shared the products she used, such as makeup, and frequently posted her OOTDs. If she was in the mood, Valeria would dance in front of the camera. She wasn’t selfish in sharing her professional routines, and she even occasionally opened up about her personal life.

[Music] Amina Hermosa, Miss Flores. Despite earning a decent income from modeling and being a social media influencer, Valeria knew her income wouldn’t always be stable. So she decided to build her own business as a backup plan.

As always, Valeria was smart in choosing the kind of business she’d start. She opened a salon called Blossom Beauty Lounge, located in Plaza Santa Maria. In the video, she showed the interior and exterior of the salon as well as their services: nails, extensions, hair treatments, eyelashes, facials, etc.

Because of her many followers, various brands reached out to Valeria for endorsements. On social media, she often posted updates about both her personal life and her new business.

However, on Wednesday, May 13, as a hands-on entrepreneur, Valeria decided to visit her salon. As usual, she started a livestream while inside. She interacted with viewers and answered a question from her friend Vivian in the chat asking if she would be staying at the salon.

Valeria said she wouldn’t stay long as she had plans to leave. [Music] Then, like other influencers, she shared a strange experience: that morning, Erica—who worked for her—told her that a man had come by looking for her to deliver a gift.

Erica tried to accept the gift, but the delivery man insisted on giving it to Valeria personally, claiming the gift was valuable. He left quickly but said he would return. Valeria said she wouldn’t wait for the man to come back. In the background, Erica can be heard telling her that the gift was in a black bag. A few moments later, Valeria picked up her phone, apparently after receiving a message.

Her phone rang, and when she answered it, she just said “No,” then hung up. “Bueno, no?” Viewers noticed her expression changed, possibly because she recognized the person trying to deliver the gift. After the call, she even joked that the person might kill her.

[Music, applause] While livestreaming, Erica said the man approaching the salon wasn’t the same man who tried to deliver earlier. Valeria became nervous because the man was wearing a balaclava face mask. The anxious model told her viewers she might get kidnapped.

Still livestreaming, Valeria kept talking to Erica and even messaged someone on WhatsApp to try and identify the delivery man. She clearly felt uneasy and eventually told her viewers she would end the stream—but lingered in front of the camera, unsure whether to wait or not, since she had a bad feeling.

Eventually, she said goodbye to her viewers.

Suddenly, her friend who was also watching the stream commented, asking Valeria not to leave because she had sent something to the salon. Then, another delivery man arrived with a Starbucks drink and a stuffed animal. He left the salon, and Valeria appeared happy again for a moment. [Music]

To clarify the situation, Valeria contacted another friend and asked Erica how the first delivery guy looked—whether he looked like a delivery person or a bodyguard.

While talking to her employee, another man walked into the salon. Valeria could be heard saying that someone was coming. He asked if she was Valeria, and when she replied yes, she quickly hit the mute button on her broadcast—so viewers couldn’t hear what happened next.

But what viewers saw next would haunt them: Valeria’s body slumped down from her seat. The model had been shot three times, and from the stream’s angle, you could see Erica’s shocked face before the broadcast was cut.

The news spread rapidly. People immediately focused on Erica’s reaction—some said her calmness wasn’t normal for someone who just witnessed a murder. Others suggested she may have been too terrified to react.

But suspicions about Erica faded when a fellow Mexican TikToker alleged that two of Valeria’s friends had helped the mastermind behind her murder. One of them was Vivian.

The theory stemmed from the livestream—recall that Vivian told Valeria not to leave the salon. In her TikTok video, the accuser asked Valeria’s friends, “How much were you paid to betray your friend?”

Soon, a masked man also posted a video accusing Valeria’s friends of betrayal. However, on the day Valeria was killed, Vivian posted a photo of them together with the caption:
“My precious little guarita. I will love you forever, my girl. I never imagined a life without you. Without a doubt, I have an angel who will always take care of me. I love you, my Barbie.”

But the public quickly attacked Vivian, flooding her comment section with blame. With so many bashers, Vivian eventually pleaded with everyone to stop making baseless accusations, saying she and Valeria were like sisters and she would never do something like that.

Reports confirmed the two had been longtime friends—but had a major falling out over a year ago and avoided each other since. No one knows the cause of their rift, but friends say the fight was intense.

They had only recently reconciled in 2025. Many pointed out how luxurious and flashy Vivian’s lifestyle seemed on social media, with some even suspecting her of illegal activities.

Others speculated the real mastermind behind Valeria’s murder was her former live-in partner.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the authorities haven’t confirmed anything. But it turned out that behind her beauty and success, Valeria had been a victim of abuse. Earlier this year, her followers were shocked when she posted a photo showing bruises on her legs.

This proves that abuse doesn’t only happen to weak women—even beautiful, educated, and influential women like Valeria aren’t spared.

She never openly talked about this on social media, but in one post, she revealed that the man had her blacklisted from a club, and that security guards beat and humiliated her. A few weeks after she left their shared home, she shared screenshots of their text messages, showing how he threatened her after the breakup.

He told her she hadn’t yet seen his true colors. That violence, he warned, was just a taste of what he could do. Valeria bravely told her followers that she was receiving death threats.

She used her platform to urge other women suffering abuse not to stay silent—to love themselves enough to leave.

But tragically, after her murder, some people blamed her instead of mourning. They accused her of choosing the wrong men, of associating with criminals.

That kind of victim-blaming is why many believe what happened to Valeria is a case of femicide—a murder driven by hatred toward women’s choices and autonomy.

Even so, one of Valeria’s friends released a video blaming Vivian. Yet, many Mexicans said this kind of brutal murder had sadly become normal in their country. On the same day Valeria died, former politician Luis Armando Córdoba was also killed in a café just blocks from her salon.

Since 2025 began, many people have been murdered—but no one has been arrested. The mayor vowed to strengthen local security. As of this recording, no suspects have been charged, and the investigation continues.

Due to the killer’s masked identity, it may be difficult to catch them. Authorities also refuse to confirm whether they’re investigating Valeria’s ex. Erica, the employee, hasn’t made any public statement either.

Like Vivian, she quickly made her social media accounts private to escape public anger.
