May 15, 2025, Thursday – Barangay San Vicente, Bulacan.
A peaceful day was suddenly shattered by a huge fire in a house where a mother and her three children—her being a content creator and wife of a policeman—were found dead.

At first glance, the fire seemed like a tragic accident. But as investigations progressed, a darker truth slowly began to unfold. What could have driven the suspect to commit such a horrifying crime? Let’s find out the full story in this video. Before we begin, we’d appreciate it if you could like this video—it really helps content creators like us. Thank you so much.

In a small town in Bulacan lived 28-year-old Joyce Rodrigo. Originally from Batangas, Joyce graduated with a degree in BSIT major in Business Analytics from STI College along EDSA. Her educational journey was a testament to her determination for a better future.

After graduating, she worked at Odyssey Store, a well-known CD and media shop in Fairview. While working, she met Kim Well Aspero—a 30-year-old police officer with the rank of colonel, assigned to the Philippine Maritime Police in Batangas.

Their relationship began in 2016, based on Joyce’s social media posts. Although their setup was mostly long-distance due to Kimwell’s job, their love remained strong. On September 15, 2021, they officially tied the knot. Their union was blessed with three sons: Kim Wellzan (5), Kyle (3), and Cairo (1). A happy family full of hope.

Joyce and her children lived in Barangay San Vicente, Sta. Maria, Bulacan, while Kimwell, as the head of the family, was often away due to police assignments in different parts of the country.

This led Joyce to become a full-time mother while managing a small rice retail business at home. But Joyce wasn’t just focused on household chores—she actively shared her daily life as a mom on her Facebook account, and also had a YouTube channel. From waking up, cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, to caring for her kids—Joyce did it all, often documenting these moments in her vlogs.

Her Facebook was filled with videos and photos—moments with her children, milestones in their lives, all lovingly shared. Joyce’s deep love for her kids was evident in everything she posted.

In October 2024, their youngest son Cairo was baptized in a meaningful religious ceremony. Joyce and Kimwell were both members of a Baptist church. On April 11, 2021, Joyce proudly posted about Kim Wellzan’s moving-up ceremony. Notably, Kimwell wasn’t there and only joined via video call, showing he was out at sea at the time.

Joyce was a loving and affectionate wife. She never missed greeting Kimwell on their anniversaries or Father’s Day. In June 2023, she described him as a hardworking and responsible father. In November 2024, she greeted him on his birthday. And in December, she and the kids attended a wedding where Kim Wellzan served as ring bearer. The family was often seen dining out and taking trips together—photos clearly showing a happy and close-knit family.

But no one could have predicted that in an instant, this joyful family would be gone due to a shocking tragedy.

May 15, 2025 — the day of the horrifying incident.
At midday, a fire suddenly broke out in Joyce’s home. Tragically, Joyce and her children—Kim Wellzan, Kyle, and Cairo—all perished.

According to a neighbor, Joyce was seen locking their house and turning off the water line just before the fire. Soon after, neighbors heard shouting: “Fire!” and rushed to help. One man tried to break open the locked door and gate. Another neighbor claimed that Joyce’s eldest son, Kim Wellzan, said their own mother had poured gasoline on them and set them on fire.

Responders found baby Cairo lifeless on the bed. Siblings Kim Wellzan and Kyle were found in the bathroom, still crying when discovered. They were rushed outside, and one responder believed he still felt their faint heartbeats. Joyce was found last, also inside the house.

Another neighbor reported that the home smelled strongly of smoke, thinner, and burned mattresses. When firefighters arrived, the fire was already extinguished by neighbors. Joyce and her children were rushed to the hospital, but Cairo was declared dead on arrival. Kyle also didn’t survive. Kimwell was immediately called home from work.

Before dying, Kim Wellzan reportedly managed to tell his father, “I love you, Daddy.” Some reports say the boys were officially pronounced dead only on May 17, 2025.

Shockingly, Joyce was named as the prime suspect. Authorities claimed she intentionally set the fire and burned her own children. After the boys were set ablaze, she allegedly set herself on fire as well. Her husband Kimwell filed charges of parricide against her, a legal term for killing one’s spouse, child, or close relative.

Authorities believed the children were set on fire first before the household items caught flame. The children were laid to rest in Sta. Maria, Bulacan, while Joyce was buried in Batangas.

Barangay officials revealed that Joyce had gone to their office early that morning to report marital problems with Kimwell. They planned to schedule a mediation between the couple—but the tragedy happened before it could take place. Joyce also reportedly had issues with her mother-in-law, whom she accused of meddling in her marriage.

No official statement has been released by Kimwell. But on social media, a neighbor said Joyce’s mother-in-law often visited to see the grandkids. Still, grief consumed both the Rodrigo and Aspero families. Facebook users were devastated, offering condolences and expressing disbelief that a mother could commit such an act.

Many speculated that Joyce may have suffered from severe depression. Some said no mother would ever want to harm her children unless pushed to the edge, feeling alone and unheard. Others suggested she may have had postpartum depression, a condition that, if untreated, can lead to emotional and psychological breakdowns—especially without emotional support from a spouse.

Netizens emphasized that husbands should care not only for the financial needs of their families but also their wives’ mental and emotional well-being. Sometimes, even a simple “How are you?” makes a big difference.

Many warned that depression is not a joke and can happen to anyone. Some even directly blamed Kimwell, accusing him of infidelity and abuse. There were rumors that Joyce had once reported him to authorities but felt hopeless since he was a police officer.

A screenshot circulated of a chat between Joyce and another person, where she borrowed money for milk because she was too sick with the flu to breastfeed. She said Kimwell only gave her a ₱2,500 allowance, which wasn’t enough—₱500 went to massage therapy, ₱1,000 to groceries which only lasted three days due to rising prices. She longed to work but couldn’t, and felt helpless watching her children go hungry.

This raised an important question: How much support should a parent give their child?
According to the Philippine Family Code, there’s no fixed amount. Article 194 says support includes food, shelter, education, medical needs, and daily transport. Article 201 says support should be based on the parent’s capacity and the child’s needs.

A disturbing rumor also emerged: that a week before the fire, Joyce had allegedly poisoned her kids using bread—though she herself didn’t eat any. Some claimed she did laundry instead of taking the kids to the hospital. It’s said Kimwell never saw the hospital results—possibly destroyed by Joyce.

Despite the speculation, others argued no one has the right to judge Joyce and Kimwell’s relationship…
