PHILIPPINE HEADLINES: The Mystery Behind the Disappearance of Over 100 Sabungeros – A Pain Without Closure

NAWAWALANG SABUNGERO NATAGPUAN NA?!

Manila, Philippines – What was once believed to be a series of isolated disappearances has turned into one of the most disturbing cases in recent Philippine history. Since 2021, at least 34 sabungeros (cockfighting enthusiasts) have been officially reported missing—but insiders believe the number may be well over 100, based on a chilling witness account.

These men, mostly from Batangas, Laguna, Bulacan, and Manila, were reportedly involved in online cockfighting (e-sabong) operations. According to a shocking confession from a suspect known as “Totoy,” the victims were allegedly strangled, tied up in sand-filled sacks, and thrown into Taal Lake—a popular tourist destination now being linked to a horrific crime.

Taal Lake – From Tourist Spot to Crime Scene

Once known for its tranquil beauty, Taal Lake has now become the focal point of a nationwide investigation. Families of the missing are urging the government to conduct deep-sea dives to retrieve the supposed remains. Some family members even claim they’ve recognized their loved ones from leaked footage showing bound bodies.

However, the challenges are enormous. Experts warn that after almost four years, most remains may have decomposed or been buried under volcanic sediment. If anything is left, it could be nothing more than scattered bones or fragments of deteriorated plastic sacks.

Government Under Pressure – Will Justice Be Served?

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are under growing public pressure to resolve the case. The Philippine Navy has also expressed readiness to assist in underwater recovery efforts if given official orders.

Allegations of corruption and the involvement of police officers or influential figures in illegal e-sabong operations have sparked deeper concerns. Many believe these connections have caused the investigation to stall for years.

A Cry from the Families – “Even just a bone, we want to bring them home”

Despite their fading hope, families continue to cry out for truth and closure. For them, it’s no longer about hoping their loved ones are still alive—it’s about finally knowing what happened, so they can grieve properly. “It’s been four years. If they’re truly gone, at least let us bury them,” said a grieving mother.

Crimes Should Not Be Buried with Silence

The sabungero disappearances are not only a personal tragedy—they serve as a warning about the dangers of underground gambling and the flaws within the Philippine justice system. Until the truth is known and justice is delivered, the pain will remain, burning quietly in the hearts of the families left behind.

🕵️ “Totoy” – The Key Suspect in the Case of the Missing Cockfighting Enthusiasts

Manila, Philippines – A man known by the alias “Totoy” has emerged as a central figure in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of dozens of cockfighting enthusiasts (sabungeros), with the number of victims suspected to be over 100.

Over 30 Named, Including Police and a Female Showbiz Celebrity

Totoy revealed that at least 30 individuals, including police officers, security guards, civilians, and a famous female showbiz personality, were allegedly involved in the abduction and presumed killing of sabungeros between April 2021 and January 2022.

He stated in a televised interview that this woman was part of the “inner circle”, had attended critical meetings, and was well aware of the details behind the operation.

Horrifying Modus Operandi

In a sworn statement, Totoy described the chilling method used: victims were strangled with wire, tied to sacks of sand, and dumped into Taal Lake to conceal the bodies.

He claimed he was shown a video and directed to a fishpond area in Talisay, Batangas, where some of the bodies had allegedly been buried as part of a post-fight “clean-up” operation.

From Suspect to State Witness

As one of six security guards at cockfighting arenas in Manila, Totoy is now seeking to become a state-protected witness, fearing for his life.

He plans to formally submit a sworn affidavit once additional evidence and witnesses come forward to support his claims.

Government Takes Action

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Police Commission (Napolcom) have begun investigating Totoy’s allegations and are urging him to file an official case.

A Napolcom deputy promised to discipline or remove any police officers found to be involved in the crime.

🚨 What Happens Next?

Totoy is currently in danger and has requested government protection. Once his sworn affidavit is filed, it will name the alleged masterminds behind the operation — including the well-known female celebrity, police officers, guards, and other civilians suspected of planning the mass abductions and killings.

This case highlights the disturbing intersection between illegal gambling, organized crime, and corruption within law enforcement. All eyes are now on whether Totoy’s testimony will hold up in court.
