I Was Infertile, but My Wife Announced She Was Three Months Pregnant Just After Our Wedding

“After the wedding, everything went smoothly. One day, when I came home from work, my wife had cooked a delicious meal and was in a very cheerful mood. She told me she was pregnant—almost three months along!”

I’ve always been a dull man—since childhood, all I ever focused on was studying. I had top grades in school and was the pride of my parents. My teachers and classmates liked me.

By the age of 24, I had never even been in a relationship. Some girls did show interest in me, but at the time, I simply wasn’t interested—I was too focused on my studies and research.

Before I knew it, I was over 30. Looking around, I realized all my friends were settled down, with spouses and children. I began to feel lonely living by myself. Many times, I’d try to call up friends, but they couldn’t come because they were busy with their families. That’s when I met my wife—Thùy Dương.

The first time I saw Thùy Dương was at a friend’s birthday party, and I was immediately smitten. I liked her so much that I somehow mustered the courage to ask for her phone number and Facebook account. After that, I initiated conversations, texted her, asked her out to dinner, pursued her, and was overjoyed when she reciprocated my feelings.

We were together for two years. I always treated her with love and care in everything. Right before we were about to get married, due to a hectic work schedule and irregular meals, I had unbearable stomach pain and went for a general health check-up — and then suddenly found out I was infertile.

I was afraid that if Thùy Dương found out about my condition, she wouldn’t agree to marry me, so I kept it a secret. I loved her deeply and couldn’t bear the thought of losing her. I told myself that if a year or two passed after marriage without us having children and my parents started pressuring her, we would just adopt a child.

After the wedding, everything went smoothly. One day, I came home from work and found my wife had cooked a lavish meal. She was in a cheerful mood. Then she told me she was pregnant — nearly three months along!

I was stunned. The smile on my face disappeared. I thought I had been nothing but good to her — why would she do this? How could she cheat on me behind my back and now claim to be carrying my child?

I slapped her across the face and shouted, “Aren’t you ashamed? Cheating on me behind my back? I’m infertile — how could you possibly be pregnant?”

This marriage had to end. I couldn’t accept a wife like that. Thùy Dương kept crying and insisted that I had misunderstood her. In the end, she agreed to take a paternity test to prove her innocence.

The final result showed that the baby was indeed mine. This left me feeling even more lost. It turned out I wasn’t completely infertile — just had very low fertility — and by some stroke of luck, we had conceived. The child was a gift from heaven to us.

With the test results in hand, I apologized to my wife and tried to comfort her, but her attitude had completely changed. She said I had lied to her before marriage by hiding my medical condition. Then, coldly, she said, “The baby is gone. I want a divorce.”

I was terrified. I don’t know what to do to save our marriage.
