My Husband Beat Me Until I Miscarried and Demanded a Divorce—All Because of One Sentence from the Doctor/th

After returning home from a prenatal checkup, I was brutally beaten by my husband to the point of losing the baby and had to be rushed to the hospital. When I was discharged, he handed me divorce papers.

I’m 26 years old. Before meeting my husband, I was in a relationship with another man, but he secretly had an affair with my close friend. At that time, I was more than two months pregnant.

Devastated by the betrayal of the two people I trusted most, I decided to have an abortion and end the relationship, as well as cut off my long-time friendship.

To escape the pain, I moved to another city to live and work, where I met my current husband. Early in our relationship, I realized he was conservative and placed extreme value on virginity. He himself had never been intimate with anyone before.

He loved, cherished, and protected me, promising never to touch me until our wedding night—and he truly kept that promise.

When I met his family, I found out they were just as traditional. His mother even asked me directly if I had ever been in a relationship before and whether I had “kept myself pure.” Seeing the expectant look in her eyes, I couldn’t bring myself to tell the truth. I lied, claiming I was still a virgin.

After that meeting, I secretly went to the hospital to have a hymen restoration procedure, hoping to hide my past from my husband. Luckily, our wedding night went smoothly, and both he and my mother-in-law were completely satisfied. Not long afterward, I became pregnant and was treated very well by everyone.

Since my husband was busy, I usually went to my prenatal checkups alone. A few days ago, he suddenly suggested going with me so he could understand more about my health. I had no reason to refuse, so I agreed.

At the hospital, everything went smoothly. The doctor said there was nothing to worry about and that the baby was developing normally. But at the end of the checkup, the doctor unexpectedly said, “Young man, has your wife ever had an abortion before? Make sure she rests and eats well, otherwise she’s at risk of premature birth.”

I froze in shock, breaking into a cold sweat. My husband stood there stunned for a moment before asking the doctor why he would say that. I quickly told my husband the doctor must have made a mistake and pulled him away. The doctor, seemingly aware of the sensitive nature of the matter, didn’t answer my husband’s question. Instead, he used the excuse that time was up and called in the next patient. That reaction only made my husband more certain the doctor’s words were true.

When we got home, even though I was pregnant, my husband beat me savagely, causing me to miscarry. I had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. During my stay, he never came to see me once. After I was discharged, he directly handed me divorce papers, saying I was a filthy liar who had deceived him, made a fool out of him, and turned him into a man with “a secondhand wife.”

No matter how much I cried and begged for his forgiveness—explaining that everything I did and said was only because I didn’t want to lose him—it seemed there was no way to salvage our relationship.
