My Husband’s Big Boss Came to Our House, Forcing Me to Let Go So My Husband Could Marry His Daughter. But When I Put a Certain Piece of Paper on the Table, Both He and My Husband Were Stunned…
“Have you ever imagined a day when the most powerful man in the company where your husband works—his ‘big boss’—would show up at your home? Not to discuss business, but to request that you willingly divorce your husband? What seemed like a normal conversation turned into a shocking moment when I handed him a piece of paper that shattered his entire world…”
That day was a drizzly weekend afternoon. I was tidying up the living room when the doorbell rang. Looking through the peephole, I was startled—the man standing there was none other than the company’s CEO, my husband’s direct superior. He was well-known for being powerful, strict, wealthy, and of course—nearly impossible to approach.
I quickly opened the door and politely invited him in. My mind was full of questions: “Why is he here? My husband never mentioned anything about this.” He sat down calmly, poured himself a cup of tea, and looked at me with stern, meaningful eyes.
“You… probably know my daughter, don’t you?” he began.
I nodded—I had indeed met her a few times at company events. Beautiful, young, elegant—truly the perfect image of a wealthy heiress.
He paused briefly, then spoke bluntly:
“I want you to think carefully. I need you to voluntarily divorce your husband. I want him to have the chance to be with my daughter. If you agree, I promise you will never lack anything for the rest of your life.”
My heart was pounding. I felt like I was listening to a dramatic story on television, not actual words being spoken right in my living room. As he spoke, he pulled out an envelope and placed it on the table—it was thick, clearly filled with money.
I stayed silent for a few seconds, then gave a faint smile.
“You think I’d abandon my husband for money?”
The powerful man frowned slightly but maintained his superior tone.
“You should think about his future. With you, he’ll always be just an ordinary employee. But with my daughter, the path to success will be wide open. Standing in the way is far too selfish.”
I didn’t respond. Instead, I stood up, took out a sheet of paper I had long prepared from the drawer, and placed it on the table, sliding it toward him. The moment his eyes skimmed over it, his face immediately changed.
It wasn’t divorce papers. It was proof of his debts—along with evidence of shady business dealings that I had accidentally come across through a friend working as an accountant in his corporation.
He froze, his once-dominant face turning pale in an instant. The room fell into silence, broken only by the sound of rain outside.
When his trembling hands picked up the document, his eyes filled with disbelief. I sat upright, calmly watching. The atmosphere grew so heavy that I could even hear the ticking of the clock on the wall.
“Where… did you get this?”—his voice cracked, the usual steely gaze replaced by panic he could no longer hide.
I sighed, leaning back in my chair.
“Did you think you were the only one with power? I’m not the kind of woman who relies only on her husband. I’m the chief accountant for an auditing firm—I know how to read financial reports. A few months ago, I ran into an old friend who works in your company’s internal department. She hinted at some suspicious numbers. I got curious, did some digging, and uncovered the tangled mess you’ve been trying so hard to cover up.”
I paused, locking eyes with him.
“This isn’t something I wanted to expose. But the moment you stepped in here, laid that envelope on my table, and treated me like a commodity that could be bought, I realized I no longer needed to be gentle.”
He pressed his lips tightly together. The veins on his forehead bulged, showing how hard he was trying to suppress his rage. This powerful man had probably never imagined he would be blocked by a “mere employee’s wife.”
I recalled the days before this. At first, I had only kept copies of the evidence as a professional habit—just in case things went bad. But the deeper I looked, the clearer it became: he was tied to outside loans, moving money around to cover up debts. The sum was no small matter—if exposed, it could shake the reputation of the entire corporation.
Many times, I hesitated, even thought of deleting it all. I wasn’t the type who liked holding a knife over someone’s head. But today, when he barged into my home, daring to ask me to abandon my husband just to hand him over to his daughter, that paper became the shield I needed.
“You think you’re so powerful you can arrange other people’s happiness?” I asked, my voice cold. “You’re wrong. I love my husband, and we’ve weathered hardships together. You have no right.”
His face froze, sweat beading on his skin. Clearly, he hadn’t expected an ordinary woman to confront him so directly. At last, he shot to his feet, said nothing more, left the envelope of money on the table, and strode out the door.
The door slammed shut, leaving the room drowned in silence. I exhaled shakily, my legs weak beneath me. No matter how strong I tried to be, I was still just a wife, a woman. I trembled—but at least I had protected my family.
That evening, my husband came home later than usual. He spotted the envelope still lying on the table and asked in surprise:
“What’s this? Who brought it here?”
I looked at him for a long while. Inside, I struggled: should I tell him everything? But then I knew—a marriage built on secrets was no different from a house built on sand. Taking a deep breath, I told him the whole truth—from the big boss’s visit and his shameless proposal to the debt papers I had shown him.
My husband sat in silence, his fists clenching tight. The moment I finished speaking, he sprang to his feet, his eyes red with fury.
“He… he dared do that to you? And what does he think of me—just some commodity to be traded?”
I held his hand firmly, trying to calm him.
“Please, stay calm. I’m fine. What matters is that you understand—I will never leave you. What we’ve built today is because we carried it together. No one can come between us.”
He sat down and wrapped his arms tightly around me. I could feel the trembling in his shoulders—not from weakness, but from anger and helplessness.
The next day, my husband went to work with an unusually stern expression. He didn’t tell me the details, but I could guess he had faced the big boss directly. Whatever was said, it must have been tense, because when he came home, he sat in silence for a long time. Then he finally spoke:
“I made it clear to him: I love you, and nothing will change that. He has the power to demote me, fire me, or make life difficult. But I will never sell out my family.”
I froze for a moment, then burst into tears. All the pressure, all the fear—I felt it finally melt away.
After that ordeal, my husband requested a transfer to another company. The salary was lower at first, but the environment was healthy and fair. We started again from scratch, facing hardships, but with lighter hearts. As for the big boss, a few months later he was “exposed” for shady financial dealings. The corporation was shaken to its core, but that was their story—it no longer had anything to do with our little family.
Now, whenever I look back, I realize I crossed a major turning point. I understand clearly: love and happiness cannot be bought with money or power. What keeps a family strong is the trust and steadfastness between two people.
