Actor Dennis Trillo could not hold back his emotions after reading an insensitive comment from a netizen who claimed that the son of his wife Jennylyn Mercado with former actor Patrick Garcia supposedly has autism.

It will be remembered that Jennylyn recently shared on social media a joyful bonding moment with her son Jazz and Kalix, Dennis’s son with beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, spending the day with her boys, discovering wonders, and picking up some cool stuff at the National Geographic Store.

In the video caption, a netizen left a comment implying that Jen’s son had autism. Dennis responded, “Do you have a problem with people who have autism?” Another comment also seemed to mock Jazz’s demeanor. Dennis fired back again, saying, “Wow, I’m seriously embarrassed for your face.”

Although Dennis doesn’t usually speak out about personal matters on social media, he immediately reacted to what many considered a disrespectful and insensitive remark—especially since it referred to a minor.

Dennis did not hesitate to defend his family, especially Jazz, Jennylyn’s son. Any kind of public judgment that could hurt the feelings of the child and their family was unacceptable.

Many netizens quickly showed support for Dennis and Jennylyn, and condemned the netizen who made the inappropriate comment. Dennis’s protective nature as a father and his strong stand for the dignity and well-being of his family were widely praised.

“That’s called ignorance. A lack of manners, a lack of emotional intelligence. Sadly, there are many Filipinos like that—unable to discern what’s right or wrong. People nowadays are becoming too much. Why can’t they just shut up? Even if the commenter thinks the child is autistic—you don’t have to say it.”

“I was taught to keep my mouth shut if I had nothing good to say. Some topics don’t need to be discussed on social media, especially if the person or their family chooses not to talk about it. Let them be human.”

It was also pointed out that Jennylyn had once mentioned Jazz’s autism in an old episode of Kris TV, but not everyone remembers that. Others added that if a response was necessary, a simple “yes” followed by a gentle explanation could have been more appropriate and educational.

This, they said, is why Jen hesitates to post about Jazz—because of people like that. Then others start to complain that one child gets posted more than the other, calling it “unfair.”

Some netizen comments said that this incident is a strong reminder to the public to be careful and responsible when using social media.

Mental health and the dignity of young people should never be the subject of gossip or jokes.
Above all, children with special needs, if any, should never be the target of offensive or damaging comments.

In the end, Dennis Trillo showed himself to be a model father and husband, one who is willing to stand up and fight for the rights and honor of his family.
