Daisy Romualdez Still Estranged from Daughter Tina Paner; Painful Past Resurfaces in Tearful Interviews

It seems that the rift between actress-manager Daisy Romualdez and her daughter, singer-actress Tina Paner, remains unresolved after many years. In an interview with Aster Amoyo, Daisy revealed that she underwent surgery but her daughter Kristina (Tina) never visited her. She also shared that their most recent encounter was merely by chance, during the wake of veteran actress Gloria Romero.

Daisy said she once made an effort to visit Tina when the latter was still living in Spain, but even now that Tina is back in the Philippines, she still hasn’t visited her mother — not even a single text message. Daisy recalled how she raised Tina with love and care, only to feel neglected later in life. She shared, “I cry. I raised you well. I sent you to school. I supported you. Don’t you remember me?”

Daisy also revealed that even Tina’s father, Manny Paner, tried to reach out, but Tina allegedly never responded to his calls.

In response to netizens reacting to Daisy’s interview, Tina Paner broke her silence. One netizen pleaded, “Please forgive your mom. Love her because she’s not getting any younger.” Tina replied, “It’s easy to say ‘forgive.’ I’ve forgiven her, that’s why I didn’t speak out. But you don’t know the whole story.” Another comment said, “Forgiveness has no condition,” to which Tina answered, “It’s easy for you to say. You’re not in my position. You don’t know what I’ve been through.”

Tina’s daughter, Shane, also defended her mother. According to Shane, “Distance is not about disrespect, pride, or turning her back. I was the one who advised my mom to step away for her peace of mind.” She emphasized that forgiveness is easy, but forgetting traumatic memories is hard. “Who wouldn’t want to talk to their mother? But what if doing so only brings pain and fear?” Shane explained. She also noted they chose to keep details private to avoid public spectacle. “We chose healing over noise.”

Another netizen questioned, “Why does your daughter have to decide for you? Your mom is still your mom, even if not biological.” Tina responded, “Really? That’s why I’ve kept silent for a long time. FYI, you don’t know the full story. Try living with my mom for a week, and you’ll understand.”

Eventually, Tina expressed, “I’ve been quiet for so long because I’m tired of all the fighting. My whole life has been like this. Now it’s not your business if I follow my daughter’s advice.”

Daisy Romualdez, on the other hand, remains hopeful that she and Tina will reconcile. It can be recalled that in 2007, Danita Paner (Tina’s sister) gave a tell-all interview about their strained relationship with their mother. Danita alleged physical and verbal abuse, claiming that Daisy pressured her to accept showbiz offers she never wanted. Danita said, “No one forced me to do this interview. I just want this issue to stop. I can’t take what’s happening at home anymore. It’s hell, pure hell.”

She said Daisy would threaten her, even preventing her from going to school or leaving the house if she didn’t obey. “I just wanted a simple life — go to school and play in a band. But she wouldn’t listen.”

Danita eventually apologized for leaving home but stood by her decision, saying she couldn’t take the constant yelling and lack of choice in her own life. By 2010, composer Danny Tan reported that Daisy and Danita had reconciled, and in a recent interview, Daisy shared that she and Danita now have a good relationship, with Danita living in her own condo.

Many netizens continue to pray for reconciliation between Christina Paner and Daisy Romualdez, especially given Daisy’s advanced age. Some believe there is still hope for healing.

Meanwhile, Tina Paner has vowed never to let her daughter Shane experience the same pain she did. In an interview with Korina Sanchez, Tina showed her full support for Shane, who is currently studying pre-med in hopes of becoming a doctor. Tina promised to pour all her love into raising Shane and thanked a close friend who acts as a second mother to her daughter.
