OMG, Dingdong Dantes And Karylle Were Both On ‘It’s Showtime’

Running into your ex doesn’t always have to be dramatic, awkward, or tinged with animosity. Sometimes, it’s just another workday, especially when life has moved on, maturity has kicked in, and healing has done its quiet, steady work.

This was the case when actor Dingdong Dantes made a special guest appearance on the noontime show It’s Showtime, where singer and host Karylle Yuzon has long been part of the mainstay cast. She also happens to be his ex-girlfriend, in case you forgot!

Yes, they were once in a highly publicized relationship. Yes, they were seen on the same stage again. But no, it wasn’t weird. Karylle has even joked about it before, LOL!

Dingdong Dantes And Karylle Yuzon Spotted Together On ‘It’s Showtime’

ICYDK, Dingdong and Karylle were in a relationship in 2006, which blossomed when the two were paired as a love team in the Filipino fantasy series Encantadia in 2005. They broke up in 2008 but it wasn’t as peaceful as anyone would hope.

At the time, rumors swirled that a third party was involved. It was alleged that Marian Rivera—Dingdong’s co-star in Marimar and Dyesebel, and now his wife—was the reason behind the breakup.

However, Dingdong denied the speculation, firmly stating that Marian had nothing to do with it.

“Kahit lumalabas noon na issue about us, she (Marian) really has nothing to do about it,” he stressed in an interview. “I would like to maintain the status quo. We’re good. I believe my partnership with Marian is working well this way. So ayaw naming sirain kung ano man mayroon kami,” he added.

Marian echoed his sentiment in a separate interview: “Tulad po ng sinabi ko noon, hindi po ako gagawa ng paraan para manira ng relasyon ng iba. Hindi ako mang-aagaw ng boyfriend para lang magka-boyfriend. Hindi ako magiging masaya kung may iba namang masasaktan. Hindi po ako selfish na gagawa ng isang bagay na makasasakit ng ibang tao.”

Nonetheless, over a decade later, seeing Dingdong and Karylle share the screen again is a breath of fresh air.  There were no cheap jabs, no subtle shade, and definitely no lingering tension. The moment came and went like any wholesome segment: light-hearted, respectful, and even a little nostalgic for fans who remember their love team days from nearly 20 years ago.

Today, both Dingdong and Karylle are in entirely different chapters of their lives. Karylle is also happily married to Sponge Cola frontman Yael Yuzon.
