Wife Has a Lover, Husband Does Something That Few Men Dare to Do
There were many times I wondered how my wife could cheat on me with a man 6 years younger than her—someone who had nothing to his name, came from a modest background, and wandered through life aimlessly.
After 16 years of marriage, my wife finally had an affair…
Honestly, I was hurt, but I often found myself wondering: why him? He’s 6 years younger, has nothing going for him, isn’t rich, and seems quite unstable. The only thing he has over me is youth. When I was his age, I looked better and was far more charismatic.
When I asked my wife why she cheated, she was silent for a long time before finally saying:
“Because you don’t care about me.”
Oh? And what exactly is considered “caring”…?
Since we started dating back in our first year of university, even though I didn’t have much money, I never once let her pay for anything when we went out.
After we graduated and started working, and even up until now, I’ve always handed over all my earnings to her, keeping just a small portion for business and investment.
When we got married, her parents didn’t give us anything, but all the assets we accumulated were under her name. I bought her designer handbags, clothes, luxury watches—all from my hard-earned money.
When we got our first home, we had only one car. But to make things easier for her—driving the kids to school, going to work, or simply avoiding the sun and rain—I bought her a Mercedes worth nearly 2 billion VND. My wife enjoyed sports like golf and pickleball, and I supported her fully. I even hired a coach and told her to buy premium outfits and rackets so she could enjoy her hobbies.
To strengthen our relationship, I often bought flowers or gifts for my wife on the way home. Back when we were students, I was a good cook—I used to cook for her often. Even now, whenever I have time, I still cook meals for the whole family. I really enjoy the feeling of the whole family sitting together, eating and talking.
We hire two helpers—one to take care of the kids and the other to clean the house—so my wife hardly has to do much. Our home is filled with automatic appliances: a robot vacuum, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a dryer… Even the lights, air conditioning, and fans can be controlled remotely or via smartphone.
My wife has two younger siblings. One of them got married—I gave 200 million VND for the wedding, and for the house, I gave 1 billion: 500 million as a gift and 500 million as an interest-free loan. I told my wife not to pressure her sibling to pay it back, but if they do, I’ll put it in a separate savings account—for emergencies or future support. I wanted her sibling to strive on their own. As for the other sibling, I arranged a job for them. They’re not married yet, but when they do get married, I’ll support them the same way. I never let anyone feel shortchanged.
Honestly, even at my age, I still have women who like me. I’m not lacking attention. But every time I feel even a bit tempted, I think of my wife, my children, and everything we’ve been through together. And I always say:
“Sorry, I’m married.”
Let me ask everyone—have I not shown enough care? What more do I need to do?
That man is only 6 years younger than me, and when I showed people his photo, they agreed—he’s not more handsome or charismatic than I was at his age. He’s 30, no wife, no kids, no house, no car—and yet my wife had an affair with him!
I truly don’t understand.
I didn’t file for divorce, and I didn’t make a scene—because I still care about our children. To be fair, my wife is still a good mother. This was the first and the last time she apologized and made a promise to both sides of the family. I hope that promise is genuine—that she takes her responsibilities as a wife and mother seriously. I hope she never does this again.
But if she ever crosses the line again, there will not only be a divorce—I will get my lawyers involved and demand back everything I’ve ever given her. And not just that—everything I’ve given her family, I will find a way to reclaim as well.
I told my wife:
“If I can hold on, I can also let go. And you—if you dare to do it, be ready to face the consequences.”
