Details of the Threats Against Claudine Barretto and the Current State of Her Life

After years of conflict between the Barretto sisters—Gretchen, Marjorie, and Claudine—many thought the feud had ended, especially since their names had no longer dominated headlines. Netizens even hoped that peace had finally settled within the family.

Indeed, for a while, things seemed to calm down, and although there were occasional disagreements, they were seen more as minor spats than serious feuds. But a shocking piece of news recently emerged involving Claudine’s relationship with her siblings—this time including Marjorie and their older brother, Mito Barretto.

In a vlog interview with Jobert Sucaldito and Chapsman on June 15, 2025, Claudine opened up about a misunderstanding she had with her brother Mito and sister Marjorie.

The question now is: What caused the misunderstanding?

According to Claudine, the only reason she could think of was her professional collaboration with the sibling of her ex-brother-in-law, Gene Padilla. It’s worth recalling that Gene previously made headlines after speaking out against Marjorie’s children, even calling out his niece Claudia over how she allegedly treated their father at a wedding.

Claudine also shared that she and Marjorie were accused—by Gene and others—of being sources for columnist Cristy Fermin’s statements about Dennis and Marjorie’s past. But Claudine vehemently denied this. She even spoke to her brother Mito, telling him:

“Do you actually think I would take Kuya Dennis’s side over Marjorie? That’s not gonna happen. But for you to think about blackmailing and defaming me—that’s an evil mind.”

Jobert clarified that he also spoke with Cristy and asked her who her source was. The veteran showbiz reporter confirmed that it was not Claudine.

Claudine said she never intended to make this family issue public, but she became concerned for her and her children’s safety after receiving threatening messages—allegedly from her brother Mito.

“I had no intention of making this public. But when your life is being threatened or your reputation is being threatened, the reason I am speaking is because I want everybody to know that if anything happens to me, it’s because there are threats. It is really timely.”

Claudine added that regardless of whether the threats are real or empty, she wants her children to be safe at all times:

“I’m scared for my life and my children’s lives as well. Whether empty threats or not, I want to make sure that my children and I will be safe.”

The actress revealed that she is now taking legal action regarding the threats she has received amid the sibling conflict. She mentioned sending a cease and desist letter but did not confirm whether it was addressed to her brother.

Claudine emphasized that everything was fine between her and her siblings, but she suddenly became the target. Boldly, she said she hoped they wouldn’t direct their anger toward her just because of Dennis:

“I hope they do not direct their anger for Kuya Dennis at me. I just hope all of those are empty threats because I don’t bluff, and I’m suing. It came to a point where I will no longer allow anyone to talk to me that way.”

She noted that her other siblings are aware of the situation between her, Marjorie, and Mito and that they are taking her side because they support what is right. Even their mother and father have been informed, and she told them:

“This has to stop.”

When asked about the endless feuding in her family, Claudine admitted that she doesn’t know why it keeps happening. She even believes in what’s called a generational curse:

“I believe in generational curses. Maybe in our past lives, our family was just truly chaotic.”

The interview also recalled how Claudine had supported her siblings and helped pay for her nieces’ and nephews’ education. She was always there financially when they needed help. She said she never threw these things in their faces, but sometimes she had to remind them—because when she needed help, no one came forward.

“Stop talking about my past. I do not live there anymore.”

Despite everything she’s been through and the painful words thrown at her, Claudine finds strength in a few people she still considers true friends.

“Blood isn’t thicker than water. If you want to bring back whatever all of you did to me before, go ahead. But do not expect that I will just sit back and accept it. I am not that Claudine anymore. I am not the Claudine that you can bully around, no matter how old you are. I don’t owe you anything. But all of you owe me a lot.”

Claudine also admitted that even her children have lost respect for their family, which is painful to hear, but she insisted:

“Respect is earned.”

Tears fell from Claudine’s eyes during the interview, and the pain in her heart could be felt as she spoke about her issues with her siblings. She denied the drug accusations thrown at her and said that even if anger issues are involved, they can be managed.

But what she cannot accept is how her own family destroyed her life—something she believes can never be repaired. “There’s no cure for that, especially if the damage is done by your own blood.”

She said that standing up for herself and her loved ones is something she owes herself.

In another interview, when asked again about her siblings, Claudine simply said that she only wants them to be happy and healthy. She clarified that she’s not their enemy—she’s their ally:

“Whether we’re okay or not, my dream is for them to be happy and healthy always. And I hope they know I’m not their enemy—I’m their ally. I love them very, very much. I hope they remember all the good times we shared. Maybe we hurt each other in many ways and on many occasions. But at the end of the day, I regret it. If I hurt my sisters, I’ve already apologized—and they accepted it.”
