Ogie Diaz calls out Willie Revillame’s campaign behavior: ‘Hindi dapat ganyan ang attitude!’
Showbiz insider and talent manager Ogie Diaz didn’t hold back in calling out senatorial candidate Willie Revillame over a now-viral video showing the TV host-turned-politician seemingly losing his temper during a campaign event.
Diaz shared the clip on his Facebook page, where Revillame could be seen handing out t-shirts while appearing visibly irked and reprimanding people around his campaign float.
“Dapat aware ang kandidato sa kanyang behavior pag nangangampanya, lalo na’t ang daming nakatutok na camera sa’yo. Hindi dapat pinapairal ang init ng ulo,” Ogie pointed out. “Alam naman nating mainit na ang panahon, kaya pasensiya ang dapat pahabain.”
The veteran manager went on to stress the importance of projecting a positive image when courting voters: “Paano tayo iboboto niyan kung nakakalimutan nating ngumiti man lang, kahit hindi na magbigay ng jacket?”
He added that being known for stern or confrontational behavior on TV shouldn’t carry over into politics: “Hindi naman porke laging nagagalit sa harap ng kamera o pinapagalitan ang mga staff o co-hosts on air eh tatanggapin din ng mga tao ‘yung ganoong pag-uugali sa panahon ng kampanya.”
Diaz reminded public figures aspiring for office that campaigning is akin to courtship: “Lagi nating iisipin na nanliligaw tayo ng botante para iboto tayo at ipanalo. Pass na muna sa, ‘Eh sa ganito ugali ko, nagpapakatotoo lang ako.’”
“Jacket lang ang ipinamimigay, hindi naman titulo ng house and lot,” he quipped. “So hindi dapat ganyan ang attitude.”
As of writing, Willie Revillame has yet to release an official statement addressing the viral video or Ogie Diaz’s remarks.
