Showbiz is once again mourning the passing of the great actor and director Ricky Davao.
His daughter Ara announced the actor’s passing. Ricky passed away at the age of 63.
Ricky Davao or Frederick Charles Caballes Davao by his real name was featured in countless movies and series – as the lead or villain. He was also a director and a great singer.
Zsa Zsa Padilla mourned the passing of her friend. His IG post reads,
“I don’t know anyone who wasn’t a friend of Ricky Davao. He was everyone’s buddy! I had the joy of working with Ricky in ‘Familia Zaragoza’ where we played siblings – since then, I’ve always fondly called him ‘Brother’. In 1997, he became Tony Javier to my Paula Marasigan in the stage adaptation of ‘Larawan,’ staged at the CCP. We did a total of ten shows, working closely together during that time.
“Whenever we’d run into each other, we’d always recall those cherished moments. The last time I saw him, we were celebrating a birthday from our group chat – just like always, full of laughter and warm memories.
“So now, hearing the passing of another artist makes my heart grow heavy. Ricky was a very good actor – dedicated and professional. I didn’t have a scene with him in Cattleya Killer, but when I saw him in the lobby of our designated hotel. As always, we had that instant connection and took time to chat before heading to work.
“Ricky is a great loss to the movie industry. His presence will be missed on stage, television and in the movies.
“May you rest in peace, Brother. My deepest condolences to all the loved ones left behind. And thank you for the joy you brought in every role you portrayed – on stage, on television, and in film.”
Sharon Cuneta also sent a message to Ara, “Oh, sweetheart…I am sorry… Our deepest condolences to you, Ken, Rikki and Mama. You’ve been going through so much and have lost loved one after another…I am praying for you. I love you son. Hug mama and your sibs for me please.”
Janice de Belen also posted a photo with Ricky on her IG Stories with a sad and crying emoji.
Janno Gibbs is also mourning, She posted a video on IG of them singing at a show. It is captioned RIP Ricky Davao.
