Manila, Philippines — Actor and television personality John Estrada is reportedly not too thrilled about his wife, former beauty queen and model Priscilla Meirelles, taking on roles that may involve intimate or romantic scenes — especially after her recent signing with streaming platform VivaMax, known for its bold and daring content.

While neither party has officially commented on the matter, insiders claim that John expressed concern about the direction of Priscilla’s comeback projects and is allegedly uncomfortable with the idea of her doing “sensual roles.”

“He loves and respects her career, but he also has strong feelings about certain scenes,” a close family friend revealed.

Priscilla’s Showbiz Comeback Sparks Mixed Reactions

Priscilla Meirelles recently made headlines after confirming her return to acting through a new project under VivaMax, one of the country’s fastest-growing streaming platforms known for its edgy, adult-oriented storytelling.

Fans were excited about her comeback, praising her confidence and beauty. However, whispers quickly spread that John Estrada, her husband of more than a decade, may not be fully on board with certain creative decisions.

“John supports her return — just not the steamy scenes,” said an industry insider. “It’s a sensitive issue for them as a couple.”

Behind Closed Doors: A Husband’s Concern or Control?

According to entertainment insiders, John Estrada has allegedly raised objections in private about the roles being offered to Priscilla, especially those with intimate encounters or revealing outfits, which are often part of VivaMax’s signature style.

Some close to the couple say John’s concern stems from a place of protectiveness, not jealousy, citing his conservative nature and preference for “classier” screen portrayals.

“He’s okay with drama. He’s okay with light romance. But when it starts to involve undressing or provocative roles, that’s where he draws the line,” a source added.

Priscilla’s Stand: “This Is My Passion”

While Priscilla has not directly addressed the issue, she recently shared a post on social media celebrating her return to acting, with the caption:

“Reclaiming what I love. The screen is where I found my strength, and I’m back on my own terms.”

Many took this as a subtle message of independence — that she intends to pursue her creative passions regardless of industry expectations or external opinions.

Fans and women’s rights advocates applauded her bravery, calling it empowering and admirable, especially in a culture where women in relationships are often boxed in.

Public Reaction: Divided Opinions

The Filipino public has reacted with mixed sentiments:

Supporters of Priscilla:

“She has every right to choose her roles. She’s an artist, not just someone’s wife.”
“John should support her, not limit her.”

Supporters of John Estrada:

“He’s just being protective. Some scenes are too much for a married woman.”
“There’s nothing wrong with setting boundaries in a marriage.”

Hashtags like #SupportPriscilla, #RespectBoundaries, and #ShowbizFreedom began trending on entertainment forums and fan accounts.

Other Celebrities Weigh In

Some celebrities have cautiously shared their thoughts:

Sunshine Cruz: “It’s hard when your personal life mixes with work. What’s important is respect on both sides.”

Ina Raymundo: “You can be sexy and still be respected — both as a woman and as a wife.”

Conclusion: Love, Art, and the Line in Between

As Priscilla Meirelles reclaims her place in the limelight, and John Estrada continues his own acting career, the spotlight now shifts to how the couple will navigate this delicate balance between career freedom and personal boundaries.

Because when art, love, and pride meet — the real drama doesn’t always happen on screen.

John’s wife Priscilla has depression due to uterine pain
Priscilla Meirelles, wife of John Estrada, has been diagnosed with the inflammatory disorder endometriosis. In her Instagram Live on Aug. 11, Priscilla admitted that her illness began after she gave birth to her daughter with John.

Priscilla talked about the hardship she was going through from the extreme pain and dysmenorrhea medication that could not be relieved.

Due to the extreme pain, she could not move and had difficulty standing and her mood was affected. The medications she was taking were also not effective and she thought the symptoms were stress-related.

She and John did some research and their suspicion was that she had endometriosis and it was confirmed when she consulted a gynecologist and had an MRI. She was found to have two microscopic implants in her abdominal muscles and they were large. Priscilla also learned that her treatment was not simple.

“It’s a condition that has no cure and it’s very hard for women that suffer from it. The pain sometimes is not that bad depending on the location but in my case, mine is located- based on what the doctor told me- most likely around my CS scar in my abdominal muscle, in the inguinal area. And it’s very painful when I move.”

Priscilla is feeling depressed because of her illness and hopes that other treatments she is trying will work. Priscilla’s advice to women, when experiencing menstrual pain, is to see a doctor immediately.

Ruffa, taunted by former COMELEC Bautista
Ruffa Gutierrez has yet to respond to former COMELEC chair Andy Bautista’s taunt after Ruffa posted the high box-office gross of Maid in Malacañang.

On Twitter and Instagram, Ruffa posted the P41M and P100M gross of the controversial movie and continued to thank moviegoers who continue to flock to theaters to watch the film.

Bautista responded to Ruffa’s box-office gross post by posting a photo of former Vice Presidential bet Walden Bello holding a whiskey after he was released from prison due to a libel case lawsuit.

Bautista’s caption on his post was “Kapag lalang inaapi, mas lalang tumitindi” and he was also responding to Ruffa’s statement that they were bullied and that they had overcome it.

Someone reminded Bautista that it is standard practice in showbiz to announce the movie’s earnings and in television, it is the ratings.

Netizens asked, why did Bautista only notice Ruffa? Cesar Montano, Karla Estrada and the rest of the movie’s cast also do this. Director Darryl Yap and Viva Films do this, why Bautista couldn’t see them.

Sunshine, it took five hours for the MRI!

Many sent complete healing and recovery messages to Sunshine Dizon after reading her post about the medical procedure she underwent. The MRI was done at the same time, so it took her a long time in the hospital.

Sunshine shared, “Did a more than 5 hour lumbar, cervical and bilateral shoulder MRI with contrast under sedation last night. Super groggy last night thank you to those who messaged and checked on me.

P.S. Sorry i think i worried a lot of people. I usually have low back and cervical pain (my last MRI was 2020) but recently my neck started to hurt again that’s why i got the procedure.”

Sunshine said that it took her five hours for the MRI because everything was done at the same time and the contrast was mentioned which made the procedure longer. Sunshine has not yet updated on how she is now after what she went through.

We remember, when Sunshine has a migraine attack, it is also serious, she is taken to the ER and needs an injection to relieve the pain. The actress’ migraine also lasts for several days before it goes away.

Julie Anne, waiting for Rayver’s ‘yes’
Julie Anne San Jose has already received the trophy for the silver award won by her Limitless Musical Trilogy concert at the New York Film Festivals 2022. Julie was unable to attend due to the pandemic.

She posted a photo of herself holding the beautiful trophy and captioned it, “Hanggang ngayon, still surreal. A silver award from New York Film Festivals 2022 for our passion project. To God be the glory.”

It’s not just Julie’s career that’s going well, but her love life as well. Rayver Cruz is reportedly still courting her, but they will definitely be a couple, especially since they will be together in Together Again, which will be aired on GMA Pinoy TV on Sept. 24 & 25 in California. They will also have a concert in November
