In the days following the emotional wake of the Philippine Superstar Nora Aunor, the public was met with a surprising and heartfelt development: Lotlot de Leon and her siblings took to social media to express their personal pain, frustration, and hopes—revealing the deep wounds and complex emotions left behind by the loss of a mother, and the legacy of a legend.
Meanwhile, longtime Nora Aunor confidante John Rendez broke his silence with an emotional post, pleading for peace, understanding, and respect for the memory of the late actress.
Siblings in Grief, But Divided by Silence
In a rare move, Lotlot de Leon, along with her siblings, shared their thoughts and emotions online after the final night of Nora Aunor’s wake. What should have been a time of quiet mourning became an emotionally charged outpouring of unresolved issues.
Lotlot posted a heartfelt message:
“Hindi madali ang mawalan ng isang ina—lalo na kung maraming taon na ring may katahimikan sa pagitan. Mahal kita, Mama, pero ang sakit ng mga taong nawala sa atin, hindi madaling limutin.”
Her words, though respectful, carried a painful honesty that resonated with many who have experienced fractured family ties.
Her sister Matet de Leon added in a now-deleted Instagram story:
“We were there. We paid our respects. But we were never given a space to truly say goodbye.”
The message hinted at possible behind-the-scenes tension during the wake, prompting netizens to ask: were the Superstar’s children shut out from the inner circle during her final days?
John Rendez Speaks Out: “This is not the time to tear each other down.”
Amidst the emotional ripple online, singer-actor and Nora’s long-time companion, John Rendez, took to Facebook with a message that stunned many:
“Mama Guy loved deeply, even if she couldn’t always show it. I know her children were hurting. But this is not the time for blame. It’s the time to heal.”
His statement was met with mixed reactions. Some praised him for advocating peace, while others questioned his role and influence in Nora’s later life, pointing out that not all family members were equally welcomed into her inner circle.
Public Grief, Private Struggles
The wake, attended by countless fans, celebrities, and dignitaries, became both a national moment of mourning and a mirror of unresolved family dynamics. Inside the funeral chapel, the air was thick with emotion—but, as some insiders revealed, not all exchanges were warm.
A source close to the family said:
“There were visible tensions. Some siblings barely spoke. Others were emotional. You could tell there were many things left unsaid.”
Fans Call for Unity in the Wake of a Legend
Online, fans were quick to empathize with both sides. Many called for understanding, reminding the public that even the most iconic figures leave behind very human families—complete with flaws, hurt, and healing still to come.
“We love Nora Aunor. But we must remember that her children are grieving, too,” one fan wrote on X.
“Let them speak. Let them mourn. And let them heal.”
As the world says goodbye to one of the greatest icons in Philippine entertainment history, the legacy Nora Aunor leaves behind is not just in her films or her songs—but in the hearts of the children she raised, loved, and unknowingly left with questions only she could’ve answered.
Lotlot de Leon defends herself from naysayers: I don’t have any siblings with bad behavior, they are all good people!
Award-winning actress Lotlot de Leon doesn’t want to get involved in the fight between her mother, Superstar Nora Aunor, and her sister, Matet de Leon.
Matet’s anger towards her mother took root when Ate Guy competed with and imitated her gourmet tuyo and tinapa business.
Up until now, it is reported that the mother and son have not spoken about the said controversy after Matet vowed never to speak to Ate Guy again because of what he did to her.
During the previous press conference of the movie “That Boy In The Dark” where Lotlot is one of the cast members, she was asked what she had to say about the scandal involving her mother and sister.
“I hope eventually, things will be okay. It’s just like this, I don’t have any siblings with bad habits.
“All my siblings, whether Ian, Matet, Kiko, Ken, they all have very good hearts. Because Mommy (Nora) is also the one who teaches them how to have a good heart,” Balot explained.
He added, “All my siblings, they are all good people. They are all willing to sacrifice and love… Ian, he eats that pride, he just wants to show you that he loves you.
“Matet, even if he cleans the bathroom, just to make you feel that he loves you. Kiko, the same thing, if you need him to do something, or even that, all he can do, or offer is to listen, to whatever you have to say, he will listen.
“Kenneth is the type when you give him an order, nothing is wrong,” Lotlot defended those who judged his siblings.
“Sometimes Mommy and I, there are things that we don’t…well, we just understand everything about our children, that’s how he is, eh. So there are things that don’t need to be explained.
“Matet, he knows that we are brothers, we always… will always be, whatever the trials, at the end of the day, we are still a family,” Lotlot explained.
And about her current relationship with Ate Guy, “Whatever I have with my mom is really personal, eh. Only other people want to dig up things, right?
“Whatever I have with my mom is personal. So, I prefer it that way. As for us, like me, I admit that at first I received such comments, I was a little shocked.
“Because, where does it come from, right? Where does the word we are not indebted come from? What do people know about what I have done and not done for my family? Don’t they?” Lotlot explained.
