Details about Vice’s best friend, 44, who he simply called “Budi,” were limited.

Budi died on Tuesday, June 9.

On Tuesday afternoon, Vice tweeted a message for his close friend.

Vice tweeted: “You’ll always be my bestfriend, my brother, my family.

“I will always cherish and love you.

“Here and there.

“Now and forever.

“I will cry. But I won’t say goodbye.” Messages of condolences from Vice’s friends and fans flooded the TV host-comedian’s Twitter account.

A fan of Vice, who is also believed to be close to Budi, posted his artwork for the deceased.

The passing of a friend is the reason Vice was absent from Tuesday night’s virtual media conference for the return of It’s Showtime on the Kapamilya Channel.

Vice’s co-hosts on It’s Showtime, Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario, attended the conference.

Vhong and Jhong confirmed the passing of Vice’s best friend.

They also extended their condolences to Vice.

According to a report by The Philippine Star, it was learned from the It’s Showtime staff that Budi died of a heart attack.

In the past years, Vice has often casually mentioned his friend Budi when he hosts It’s Showtime.

It’s Showtime will be aired again, via Kapamilya Channel and Jeepney TV, starting June 13.
